February 8, 20120

76 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A nice wave at Manly this morning ensured we all got wet quickly 😉

What with the full moon and the high tide at 9.30 there was soooo much water moving around, especially with all the backwash across the bay making it a real roller coaster of a swim.

Dave Adams wore the Garmin this morning and gave us our exact distance 🙂

Dave’s B&B Swim by pacificjules at Garmin Connect – Details

It seems that Stephen was looking down on us this morning… giving us another aspect of our swim.  Thanks Stephen.

There is some interest amongst a few of our swimmers in participating in this years Lake Argyle Swim.  Cae has already booked in for the 10km solo !! 🙂 Iain, James and Brendan are also giving it some serious thought.  So you’ll have some playmates to train with on some early (dark) swims between now and then if you’re keen.

Michael and I participated in (and actually won) the 20km duo at their inaugural event.  It’s a superb swim, very friendly and in a stunning part of the country.  The organisers of the event even find a wonderful support crew and boat for you.  So if you’re looking for a good excuse to go outback this could be just what you’re looking for…

It’s on 5th May and you can participate in the 10 or 20 km swim as Solo, Duo or in Teams of 4.  Check out their website for more details or to book in.

Now onto our amphibious B&B swimmers, we have two teams (that we know of) who are participating in this years Coastrek in March, which is a 50km coastal endurance walk to raise money for the sight restoring work of The Fred Hollows Foundation!

If you would like to sponsor either or both teams please do so below:

Jenny Knapman’s team – Bold & Beautiful

Elaine Kindred’s team – Kindred Spirits

Dave Thomas from Eco Divers has asked me to let you know about an upcoming event: ‘Save the Styx Turns Blue’

It’s a fundraising event with guest speakers and auctions to raise awareness about plastic in our oceans from 6.30pm on Saturday 18th February at Forestville Memorial Hall.  To find out more please go to their facebook page  or call Conny on: 0432 643 295
