06/02/2012 – Washing Day

February 6, 20129

Over 56 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A misty morning with big seas and what a swim…

A handful of experienced surf swimmers went out from Manly through the big waves and I don’t think many, if at all any came back in that way, so enough said about that 😉

The rest of us sensible swimmers walked around to Half Way Beach and whilst it may look like the tranquil option as we stopped for a brief look at the point along with the helicopter.

It sure had plenty of fun and adventure.  It was more like boxing than swimming this morning.  The waves were smashing into Half Way, the ocean was like a washing machine stuck on the spin cycle the whole way across and there were waves at Shelly.

Two things you don’t often see at Shelly; waves and B&B swimmers all standing up on the sand during our interval.

A lot of people (very wisely) walked back from Shelly and a few of us swam back to half way providing much entertainment for our spectators which you can see from this fantastic video that Stephen took this morning.  What a lovely team we are 🙂

Thanks for the great photos this morning Stephen, it was worth it for us that you got wet in the process 😉

The Garmin didn’t even like it this morning, it lost satellite reception just before Shelly and hence went a bit wild, just like the sea

Just back from LA and it looks as if I missed some excitement. Wild Southerly here at Fairlight at the moment so maybe it will be Lake Manly tomorrow. I live in hope.

Forgot to say that I brought back a spare pair of Aqua Sphere Alpha fins, Medium size (same as Neil’s). The small size fits me (shoe size 8). I’ll bring them to B&B tomorrow. If anyone is interested let me know. I was charged AU$25 on my Credit Card.

Swim was really rolly rolly but I rolly enjoyed it – got a bit scared coz visibility was NIL!! And got bopped on my head by some wood – not Peter – a small square of wood! ;-D
See you and your crew tomorrow Jane!

I’m interested Jane but won’t be there until Wednesday. I am either the small or medium so if yours fit I’d happily buy them from you.I can also drop over to you today and try them so you know for tomorrow at swimming.
    Thanks

What a great video and music. Really captures the fun we all have and one of the many reasons we all keep coming back for more. Sorry I missed it but looks like the easterly swell will hang for a few more days continuing the excitement.
