04/02/2012 – Sun Swim

February 4, 201217

Over 153 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A ‘cool’ swim this morning in beautiful calm seas.  No rain drops joined in but the sun actually popped out to say a brief good morning 🙂

Welcome to all our new swimmers this morning, but a special mention to four new swimmers who Laurie brought up to join us all the way from Wollongong !!  They all did the 6km swim too 🙂

It’s lovely to have our two swimmers from Dubbo join us today too 🙂

25 swimmers continued on for a beautiful 6km swim including many first timers 🙂  To see who they are please click on the attendance opposite, they will be the swimmers with the super 6 icon !!  You will have to look today to see that though, otherwise download the full list from the website anytime.

It seems that some of our 6km swimmers were rather pleased with themselves and still on a high, sharing the love and at the apres swim brekkie this morning 😉

Check out the Garmin statistics of Fiona’s 6km Swim below.  I’m pretty sure Stephen will share Brendan’s with us via a comment soon for comparison

Fiona’s 6km B&B Swim by pacificjules at Garmin Connect – Details

Our original swimmers are very excited to be joining in next Saturday’s 6km summer badge swim. After 3 years it will be the first ever 6km swim for 3 of them; Anita, Deb and Cyn, so Jenny is going to show them the way 🙂  Hopefully this will encourage many more of you to give it a go, your friends the flippers are welcome of course.

Some more photos just in from Stephen this morning:

Plus, some fantastic photos from the Sun Run, courtesty of Nicolee Goins who along with many of our swimmers, participated in and enjoyed this great run.  Go you good amphibious creatures you 🙂

As a reminder we will be swimming in the Harbour tomorrow due to the Cole Classic, so please feel free to go straight to the Harbour end of Ashburner St.  We will wait at the usual place until 7am and then wonder down to make sure we don’t miss anyone.

oh, my, how very fancy. Lots of fun, even if I I dont understand any of those statistics.
I do hope I haven’t shamed myself in comparison to Brendan…..I blame the drag from the banana if so.

Not much chance of that Fiona. Best I can tell you were over 3 minutes/km quicker than me!
Thanks for letting me use the gadget Stephen, although I think it needs recalibrating as I’m sure I swam much further and much quicker than that !

Love that Garmin! What a great toy. If nobody’s yet bagsed it, may I volunteer to wear it for next Saturday’s 6k. Where do you wear it? (The camera spot is taken)

Damn those 6km swims. Right. That’s what I’ll be doing next Saturday, it seems.

While we’re on the subject… I’ve actually got >20k ahead of my nearest rival [Julie somebody!] and I’m only 40km behind the leader!!
Whilst I’m very fond of Neil, I’m sort of hoping he’ll spend a bit of time with his friends up north.
The prize is, after all, an open round the world air ticket with $10k towards expenses. Did I mention that before??

Without sounding like a creepy stalker/pedant, could I say that having just “met ” Ian Paul, I happened to notice that he hasnt been counted in today’s swim, (his name is just above mine) and I am sure I saw him starting for the shelly lap. Just sayin’, since there is so much at stake here, prizes and all.

I never was very good with numbers. Anyway I had fins on, which was such fun…

Hi all, Thanks for the splendid company this am on the swims.
Am I correct in assuming that the “competition” for the First Prize ends at the very stroke ( pun intended) a certain M.Christie has his nose in front?
