I got down to Manly today and was quite disheartened to see the rough surf and rippy chop chop water, and decided I’d walk to half way or Shelly beach. Actually it was a lovely swim despite some bounce in the bay, and there were no blue bottles seen in the 7am swim that I heard of. Yesterday’s reports had me chickening out.
The yogi’s doing their stretches pre swim or work day:
I only met one new swimmer today-Kerry:
She was worried her friend Julia had slept in but a little faith goes a long way Kerry 🙂
Some of us walked to halfway or Shelly, John wasn’t so impressed by the lack of enthusiasm for surf:
Errol, Lisa and Robyn had the same idea as me
Jill was excited to be getting in at halfway, Ros ran away from the camera, for the moment:
A decent group waiting for everyone to arrive:
After leisurely chats we bought a take away coffee from Shelly, this man was smiling so much I had to try and capture his joy de vivre:
there was minimal marine life to be seen today so here’s a couple from last Monday and last week:
today’s cute dog:
It’s the australian open of surfing this weekend, go check it out:

Great Blog Edwina,
Up at Toowoon Bay Wilf and I found it a bit chillier than normal, only found half a dozen Bluey corpses on the North East beach, we swam at the South East beach and all good but murky
The coffee was predictably great 🙂

They actually made it up there! Glad you avoided them. It’s so hard trying to organise to come and visit.

The option of a Shelly swim is always as nice and just as fun.

I like the photo of the Wobbegong Edwina. According to wiki, it is the common name given to the 12 species of carpet sharks in the family Orectolobidae. This shark gets it’s name from the expression woebegone….NOT.
The word wobbegong is believed to come from an Australian Aboriginal language, meaning “shaggy beard”, referring to the growths around the mouth (a bit like Ian Nicol at the moment).

Inge,
through my facial growth I also saw a wobby today (thurs) off the point after our double swim. At first I thought it was a dusky flathead but while hovering over it, I realised it was definitely a baby wobbgong, just under 1/2 m long. It had dark and lighter colour bands just like the picture above and was swimming slowly and fossicking just above a flat shallow rock about 20 m nth of Manly point. The water was pretty clear there,
