You couldn’t have picked a better day for Jane to return to swimming. It was calm, clear, warm and as good as it gets quite frankly . After the recent heatwaves then thunderstorms and churned up waters, people were making the most of it and clocking up their km’s I”m sure in doubles and triples.
Jane Stevenson was a regular swimmer when I started in 2014, another octogenarian dare I mention age. She’s been away for a while with this reason and that but today Izzy brought her down and wasn’t it a warm welcome .
We had five new swimmers today, here are two of them from South Africa and America- I made a note of their names and then lost it sorry. Welcome all and do mingle around the group, there’s people from every planet almost!
Here is a pre and post photo of today’s swim at Manly, only 239 total swimmers! Compared to the 600-700 we’ve had on weekends, seemed quiet really!
above photo c/o Di Schaffer.
Today Roz spotted the wobbegong having a sleep, which brought a group of us over including Elaine doing her thing diving down!
I managed to find some cute squid swimming in circles nearby:
Then I saw two blind fish at the point, each going in different directions
Ian found Roger surrounded by five poodles today. When I started swimming there was Rosie plus another little dog or two but now there’s as many pets as there are swimmers. We know their names and characters and even walk them for each other occasionally.
I had already done my last blog before heading inland next week. Then I got asked to cover for Peter who’s on holidays, reliving his childhood at Disneyland. I stole this pic from his facebook profile, I”m sure he won’t mind, it’s a cracker! Nothing like seeing parents and kids enjoying their time together.
Water temp today 22.5 degrees. Enjoy the fine weather everyone while it’s here.
ciao-edwina.

Great to see Jane – Jane was the first person I met at BNB – she used to go out in ANY condition – what a legend!

Love it. Not sure if it’s the correct collective noun for a group of poodles, but it sure should be.

for the first time ever the squid just swam in a circle stopping occasionally, instead of swimming for their lives in the other direction. they’re so cute.
