Sawabona ( means ‘I see you’ – a traditional and meaningful hello greeting in Africa).
It’s great to be back in the ocean and back at CTB. Thing about CTB is it’s very weedy at the moment and after my recent river swims in the UK where it was also weedy, it got me thinking of all things weed.
And this is the northern beaches after all.
The 7 am scene today. Moody.
The temperature mild, the water calm with a good chance of weed
Some actual weed looking magnificent posing on the beach
I asked others what they thought of weed
The FFF’s laughed except for Nipper (RHS) who had a brush with a rock trying shortcut in a bid to win the race. He couldn’t see the rock for the weed. Simon, Shanny Chris the Driver, Suzie, Squirrel, Coatsey and Nipper.
Jon and Matt babysitting the cute Mackenzie also laughed when I mentioned weed. They asked what kind. Mackenzie was not impressed.
James, Mackenzie’s father thought of his garden weeds and (faarking) bindis on the front lawn when I mentioned weed. Thats what he says …seen here looking wistfully into the distance.
Roger in quiet contemplation or on weed watch
When I asked Scotty, Reeco and Mikey (aka Skattie) about weed. Mikey said he’d wee’d in the ocean did that count. Always one joker in the pack hey. Scott and Reece allegedly wearing wetsuits to make them go faster.
JK simply waved his BnB apparel around like a weedo

Post UK and quarantine it’s even sweeter to be back in the ocean swimming amongst all the friendly faces, this song by Xavier Rudd sums it up so well. How lucky we are.
‘Follow, follow the sun
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done
Breathe, breathe in the air
Set your intentions
Dream with care
Tomorrow’s a new day for everyone
A brand new moon and brand new sun…
So follow, follow the sun
The direction of the birds
The direction of love
Breathe, breathe …
When you feel life coming down on you like a heavy weight
When you feel this crazy society adding to the strain
Take a stroll to the nearest water’s edge, remember your place
Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came
So which way is the wind blowing
What does your heart say
So follow, follow the sun
And which way the wind blows
When this day is done’
