I knew it was going to be a wonderful swim this morning. From the moment I saw the eager faces of the 6.30’s as they headed down the ramp and caught sight of the serenity of the morning sunlight as it cast soft rays on the horizon, I knew it would be an invigorating morning. The water temperature has once again see-sawed to below 17 degrees, but it seemed slightly warmer once we were at The Point. Maybe numbness was setting in. Visibility was not at its best but certainly not at its worst. The calm, gentle water encouraged a meditative state of mind. I couldn’t see much marine life so I started thinking about a book I have just started reading, which has already begun to resonate with me.
The first few chapters of “Your Health Creation” by Dr Matous Bursik, identifies three keys to Health: MEANING, BALANCE and HARMONY. These three concepts are a part of my swim each morning as I aim for a sense of physical and mental well being.
MEANING
The 7 am’s heading in towards the light
Steph, Chloe, Grace and Heather. All the girls are British Doctors who studied and worked together in the UK. Steph is now working in Brisbane, Chloe is working in The Gold Coast, Grace is working in Adelaide and Heather is up at Manly. They all managed to come to Sydney for the weekend to run in the Blackmore’s half marathon. Chloe said it was a wonderful way to see the sights of Sydney Harbour. Heather, who is quickly becoming a B&B regular, encouraged the girls to swim with us yesterday which would have been perfect for sore muscles. Welcome girls, we are so glad you had a great swim.
There was a large group in the Drinkwater express team today. The lighter mornings and lovely conditions are obviously encouraging swimmers to start early.
Rusty, heading down the ramp to join the Drinkwater Express.
I love this photo of the 6.30’s! Each swimmer looks so excited and happy.
David and Holly.
Susie, Mary, Brent, Clair and Bianca who swim at the secret time of 5.45am.
Alex, Judy and Lucy with the friendly pups, Polly and Buddy. Judy loves swimming with her two daughters – such a special way to start the day.
BALANCE
Booty campers enjoying their pre swim exercise
Nat, Poppy and Lainey. Poppy has run in every City 2 Surf fun run since it started 47 years ago. You are a legend Poppy! Nat and Lainey were having a quick swim before heading off to teach. They are teaching at the same school. How lucky are those students to have two teachers with such passion, energy, commitment and talent. Have a great day girls.

HARMONY
What a sight! As I paused on my way to Shelly, I was mesmerised by the light, colour and water movement.

Sam, Mandy and Ian
Mandy is so thrilled to reach her 100kms! She enjoyed the honour of shouting “Let’s Go” at Shelly
A little banter is always a feature of our pause at Shelly
The return swim was just as enjoyable as the swim over – Relaxing, calm gentle swim.
The guys give a thumbs up for a perfect swim!
Ian and John are very happy to announce that B&B raised $1709 for The Royal Far West through entry fee and raffles during our recent Winter badge Award Ceremony. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped. What an amazing effort!
