Tuesday 16/11/2021 – It really was ‘Salt Joy’ today!

November 16, 20211

It really was a stunning swim this morning and I hope the first photo shows what we all saw heading out!  The sea grass was the brightest of greens, the weed and kelp contrasted beautifully and the flash of a Blue Groper just topped it off! It’s the first showing of the beautiful doco made of our group this evening, called ‘Salt Joy’. Unfortunately it is full but there will be another opportunity we’re sure. (Next Tuesday also full.)

5.20am this morning in our favourite corner of the world! Calm seas and clearer waters.

Kerry brings her cousin down for an early swim for a change

My swim buddy this morning was the amazing Ali. Look how she jumped from the sand below and scaled the wall 😉 There’s more to you than meets the eye Ali (Allez! allez, allez!)

Some of The Merpeople after their early swim.

Ali is a ray of sunshine and likes hugging. I introduce her to Bruce and she jumps on him (almost!)

Long time swim buddies Mary and Rainer. (Rainer was once known as ‘Lips’ after he was stung by a Jimble and his lips swelled up to three times their size!)

Wasn’t the sea grass so gorgeous today! Claire was diving towards it as I headed out and Ali joined her.

The incredible ball of Striped Catfish many of us saw off the point at the weekend!

A lone one, nearer the pool…

Full credit to Mauro Berberis for the pic above which I got off the Viz Facebook page. It was taken at the weekend and is of an Ornate Wobbegong eating a smaller Spotted Wobbegong. He actually eats the whole of him! So if you see a very large Ornate Wobbegong around the bay you know why he’s so big!

Bec and Linda after their fix of ‘salt joy’.

Some B&B regulars post-swim. It’s always an honour to chat to these guys pre or post swim. Julian on the left is always so insightful, interesting and wise, Derek is just the best and the others are pretty awesome too!

Have a great day folks!

Lainey xx
