The forecast was for 5 m swells yesterday and I still came down to swim so I am counting today’s swim as a big swim even though there were only a few waves. But there were blue bottles. I sought out an injury to photograph but there were none. These swimmers did not care and I envied them their wetsuits today
WOW
Early swimmers going in to test out the waters. And swim
shower scene
Look at these beautiful early swimmers. They kindly tested the waters – no stings
Boot camp doing a stretch to celebrate Lisa’s birthday (they also had cake and champagne plus some very cool birthday hats) and they were very limber to celebrate
How is the water? Thumbs up
Worse than bluebottles (which belong in the sea but what is their purpose?) is the plastic. Bold and Beautiful swim squad takes away the plastic they see in the sea. While it is a big problem, every bit must help.
Management notices
150 swimmers
1 newbie
temp 18.5 (in the water; the air was much colder because of the fricking breeze and clouds)
What I have been reading
Bridget Crack by Rachel Leary. A female convict story set in Tasmania. I found it hard to follow its episodic storytelling or was it that after a while I just did not care what happened to her. Either way: not keen to recommend.
I have also started Man vs Ocean: One Mans Journey by Adam Walker. I am fascinated with his story about swimming the English Channel and other big swims; his training and obstacles and the way he overcomes negative thoughts with positive thoughts. But last night I was up to the bit where he was stung by a manowar in Hawaii and it was like the book had conjured them up this morning!

Dear Elizabeth,
last week you wrote nobody reads the Friday blog – not true. I left Australia on the 17th July 2017 and have read every blog on every day since then. Which means I have read every one of your Friday blogs. They are my life-line back to Manly.
I thank every Blogger who gives me the opportunity to still feel part of somenthing I can no longer enjoy first hand. And I love your reading summaries, Elizabeth. Have a great weekend!!
