Spectacular sunrise this morning, oh my gosh you’ve gotta love winter mornings.
Absolutely superb photos from Gaetan Guilhon and James Goins, wow wow wow I just couldn’t choose which ones to use, they were all so good I just had to include them all, thanks guys !
A lovely swim with a little chop off the point. Beautifully clear water with lots and lots of fish.
Sadly, Gaetan found a dead cuttlefish which the bream were feeding on at Shelly. James
managed to capture this beautifully on camera as you can see in the photo below.
Rumour has it that the cuttlefish would have given birth and then died, Jane is this true ??
Little Sarah Abbott swam both ways with no flippers today, well done Sarah that great 🙂
We are hoping to go and see the movie Oceans at manly cinema on Friday evening, everyone welcome, it would be fun to go and see this as a group. As soon as they publish the session times I’ll post it on the blog.

Re cuttlefish, Gaetan sent his video to Mandy Reid, the marine invertebrate expert at the OzMus – she was very impressed with it. She said the cuttlefish looked sick and if female, would die after laying eggs. The males also die after breeding. So it looks as though they had bred, which augurs well for next season!
Re Oceans film, it would be fun if we all turned up in our pink caps!

Hi Iain,
Actually you can get light sticks from your local fishing store, you will need to wear 2 or 3 on your big swim. You hold them on with elastplast and safety pins and crack them when it gets dark. If ever I make it for a Sunday 6.20 it would be fun to see a group of phosphorus glowing “pinkies” one morning. Good photo op.

lads,
light sticks are no good if the person or boat looking out for you is in front of you. Lost a friend in the channel for a very long few minutes ! Best use them with a small strobe-they are light weight and cheap as chips.
