Over 96 Bold & Beautiful swimmers !
26 swimmers set off at 5.50am this morning to kick off the start of the official Bolderdash season. Bolderdash is a 3km swim from Manly to Queensie return, back in time to join in with everyone for the regular 7am Manly to Shelly swim too if you choose 🙂

It really was the most stunning swim up to Queensie and back, so calm and with a spectacular sunrise as we set off, which I missed as I breath to the other side 🙁
Beautiful up at Queensie headland too !

70 swimmers enjoyed the Shelly swim and 10 did both ! Meaning they clocked up a whopping 4.5kms on the Pacific Challenge 🙂 Of course the Pacific Challenge will only reflect your kilometers if you tick, so please don’t forget to tick for each and every swim you do: Green folder for Bolderdash, Blue for Shelly and Pink for newbies, 7 days a week, thank you.
Check out the daily attendance to see who did which swims this morning, each name has unique icons next to them, a shell for Shelly, a B for Bolderdash or as you might expect, both for both 🙂
John and Mark couldn’t wait to get back into the water after Bolderdash, it feels like a bath second time round.

Everyone else was pretty quick to follow

The water is clearing, with so much marine life to observe.
Simon H was taking it all in at the point as his life is changing tomorrow forever. His wife will be giving birth to their first child tomorrow morning just as we finish our swim. Look forward to the good news and first photo tomorrow Simon 🙂

Whilst everyone was relaxing, acclimatising and enjoying the point chatter, Chris was busy playing the garden water feature – cute 😉

David W was celebrating his first wetsuitless swim of the season in pink 🙂

and Sarah and Rainer were ecstatic with their morning’s workout, both having swum almost all the way up to Queenscliff and back before the Shelly swim, both without flippers. Very well done !

There’s definitely more flesh than wetsuits now 🙂

and an extra special swim for Sue McGregor this morning to celebrate her (we don’t mention numbers but if we were to it would be 50th) birthday !! 🙂 Her daughter even made a divine orange cake for us all to share at brekkie, thank you !

There was a bit of a photo shoot happening too. Anna has written an article on some of our slightly more mature swimmers and the benefits they receive from participating in B&B and they were modelling for it this morning. Once we know when it will be in print we’ll be sure to let you know 🙂

and there’s more… 7 swimmers also enjoyed an early lap of Shelly at 6.30 and John B and Michael C (without wetsuit) did the Bolderdash, the regular swim and a double afterwards where they were also joined by Chris K ! 6km and all before breakfast, not bad hey 🙂
Stephen took a range of great ‘pink at the point’ photos this morning

as well as a jelly and a leatherjacket, look closely you can see the leatherjacket in the lower half of the photo between the reeds.

and the gorgeous, elusive blind shark

Simon also got some fantastic shots, the last two of which are from yesterday with Pitt St traffic on Manly ramp 🙂

For those of you who have been swimming with us for over a year you will remember the sudden rush on baby girls that we had just over a year ago. Well little Charlotte was the first one off the rank, so now at 13.5 months old, Mum and Dad at least, are very happy but somewhat surprised that her B&B cap now fits 🙂 A big difference on 12 months ago ! Very cute 🙂
Now maybe not quite so cute, but definitely very cool is Stephen strutting the streets of LA in his B&B cossies. Love it !
If you can possibly take Stephen seriously after that he has suggested a halloween swim for this Wednesday ! Good idea. What do you reckon ? Come rockin’ your best pumpkin ??
News just in from the Port Macquarie Half Ironman contingent: “Sore, thirsty, tired, sweaty, hungry, but finished ! Wahooooo !” Rob and Emer did it ! Very well done indeed guys, you guys are super hero blog tarts now 🙂

Derek, who was over here on holiday from the UK for the Fire Fighters Games, is taking home 12 medals, including a very proud silver in the open water swim which was held at Narrabeen in rough surf on Saturday. Fantastic Derek and look forward to seeing you again on your next trip if not before via some exciting and outrageous on tour photos.

Oh and Chris found the one lone jimble in the whole bay this morning, it certainly made the most of Chris, good job he’s tough 🙂

Thank you B&B for the most amazing swim to Queensie! I really enjoyed my first Bolderdash in such fine company.
Jules, this is why you want to start breathing every odd number of strokes: http://daily.sproutdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/mfsprout_20121029_17.jpg (credit Sprout Daily).

WHAT JOLLY FUN WAS BOLDERDASH!
and such pretty photos.
I too missed the sunrise though I tried very hard to bilaterally breathe. It’s just that 3 is too short, and 5 is too long…

I guess you breathe every 4 then. Jules told me this morning she breathes every 2, I myself breathe every 5. That’s interesting, I wonder what’s the “standard”? 🙂

Yes wasn’t that a beautiful shot!! I breathe to the right and I still missed it.
BTW Francois we missed you on the ‘double’. Where were you ??

What a beautiful morning!
Perfect conditions for my first attempt at the bolderdash. Little Sarah and I had no trouble enjoying the sunrise as we decoupled from the ‘racers’ and took plenty of breaks to take in the scenery on our way up to Queensie. 🙂
To all those who missed the sunrise – take the ‘dash’ out of bolderdash!! You’re way too fast!
Rob / Emer – well done you two!!! Look forward to having you back in the water soon.. I challenge you to swim with your IM medals!! 🙂

Haha Michael, I was most likely under the shower trying to heat my body back to a normal temperature 😉
Can you please make December 1st a 10 kms swim to give me an incentive to do doubles after a Bolderdash?

Sorry, TypePad messed up with my authentication. Apparently my name is Account Deleted now.
It was still a perfect swim and a perfect sunrise!

Oui Francois – i saw that sunrise too – it was amazing!!! And the water was calm and peaceful! – at one point all i saw was the sun / the calm beautiful sea – swimmers arms and pink hats – and so quiet!!
Although internally I was frantic mess trying to keep up with everyone!! :-DD
I came across a little puffer fish on the surface taking his last breaths on earth – we shared a moment of understanding! 🙁

Yes, divine! It’s only taken me about 3 yrs since I first swam with B&B (when I just got to the point and thought that was a real achievement) to doing a “bolderdashless” enjoying the sunrise and scenery as Rainer said:-)
Lesley, at least you saw the sunrise and I was impressed to see you without your flippers, next let go of the “frantic mess”:-)
Rob & Emer, good job!

Lesley, I was shocked at you!! You didn’t have your flippers!! AND I could hardly keep up with you. WHY have you been wearing flippers all these years????
BTW Well done! I thought you swam well.

Well done you Bolderdashers, especially Lesley, LSA and Rainer! Is the Bolderdash every morning? I am so keen to get in that 1st column I’m thinking of doing it tomorrow if it counts to the Pacific Challenge. That sunrise looks amazing!

no, you didnt cos you were very busy doing moves for the camera. I modestly and quietly deferred attention from myself.

I thought standard was 3, but that makes me dizzy.

Lesley, I felt that moment you mentioned as well and it was amazing. Just as the sun rose, there was a real stillness in the air. You did really well on the swim, you do not need flippers at all!
