12/04/2015 – The Sunday Swim in 600 Words

12/04/201513

A total of 190 good looking swimmers enjoyed the marvelous conditions today – blue sky, clear water, light offshore winds, cuttlefish, turtles, squids.*

(*today’s blog may not feature any actual photos of marine life)

Sterling slept in his car last night, eager to get down early for a good starting position in the Sunday A-Team race..

Shaun watching his back..

He knows.. revenge is a dish best served cold..

He’s a good sport though. He even agreed to pose for the customary ‘beauty and the beast’ shot:

Time for a few Johns..

John, John, and Kitty:

Ian taking care of newbie business. Probably taking a few more pictures than necessary..

The Gab Mobile:

7am – time for the main event:

6:30 swimmers returning with smug, condescending smiles on their faces as they pass the 7am ‘slackers’..

The 6:45am motorcycle squad..

Le Point:

It was a great day to bring your mum and dad down for a swim.

Here Saskia (7) dragging dad Brian along to Shelly:

Rusty having a moment of ‘bliss’ at Shelly:

Simon had to swim with non-compliant cap. My fault, as I borrowed his pink cap earlier in the week and never managed to return it:

Sterling, in pole position for the return race. Sleeping in his car had paid off:

Mary mocking me with competing camera. Pretend blogging:

I quickly put her back in her place.. smile!

JK in one of his trademark ‘subtle’ photo bombs:

Busted: Ian with non-compliant swim cap:

JK getting ready for his speech:

Something along the lines of ‘Let’s Go’…

Peter and I were at a party last night, shared quite few drinks before staggering home past midnight. Needless to say we were both chuffed to have made it to the swim this morning..

Doctor John, on the other hand, didnt make it:

These guys were just chuffed to have found the blog camera:

Back at the finish line, Sparkles and Shaun were arguing about who won the race:

A few meters away, Lori and Anna fiercely competing for ‘smile of the day’:

And here the final race results as determined by everyone’s place in the shower queue:

Two people who didnt want to feature in today’s blog…

#1 Kelly:

#2 Midge:

Swimmer of the Day:

Important announcements:

Ted getting a neck massage whilst having a refreshing post-swim drink:

Speaking of Ted, his lovely wife Elaine is completing the Canberra Marathon today – for a great cause:

I’ll leave you with a few impression from the benches this morning..

Oh, and yes, Sterling came first in today’s A-Team race. Not sure who he was racing but he clearly enjoyed his moment of glory:

In other news, the BnB baking competition is gathering steam – watch out Megan!

And finally, tying up loose ends, I returned Simon’s cap:

The End.

Have a great Sunday!

SOOO glad to have you back blogging Lips – I’ve been missing you dreadfully. The only disadvantage is, you can’t photobomb your own photos. Be careful not to lose your champion photobomber status. (Maybe you can do a photobombing selfie?)

Sterling’s mate Eric Bana made an awesome cake! This blog covers entire spectrum of the swim group; rendering any future media coverage void. Love the shower scoring system. I opt in for Cake Comp. (A good way to nobble those at A-Table). Good blog, Sgt Shultz!

Wonderful blog Lips and thank you so much for mentioning my Marathon and ‘Running for Ruth’. I managed to finish in 5 hours 5 mins and we have raised over $7000 for Ruth’s electric wheelchair. So many b&bers have donated even Turbo Bursle. Still hope to get to $8000 though. Thank you all once again xx

    Re ANZAC DAY
If anyone would like to add to the days commemoration by being one of our speakers adding some personal memory or poem to the gathering. Some elders ,some kids would I think enhance the significance of the Anzac tradition for future generations.
Please contact Ian, John, or Greg with ideas so that a flow of the event can be organised.
