“A Few Good Men” (& Women) are Volunteers !
Our regular Tuesdays blogger & his wife Melissa & Brian are volunteers for the SES !
so as you could imagine they had a very busy night & didn’t get any sleep doing a sometimes thankless task !!!
This sign says it all doesn’t it !

Of todays 21 swimmers who were brave enough to go for a swim !
only 1 did the whole swim entering from Manly & swimming back………Mighty effort David Panton !

Deep Vein thrombosis compression badges….. OH&S compliant I’m sure !

Manly council sent one of its workers (Shaun) down to help out in the rough conditions

Dave reckons he will be swimming again tomorrow in the even bigger swell predicted.
I’m sure if his body gets washed ashore there will be many of the girls wanting to give him mouth-to-mouth, might be worth coming down just to see that !
“A” teamers deserted the wet benches for the comfort of Bluewater & a cheaper $10 brekky !!

Virginal blogger Sterling is filling in for Tim on Thursday !
I think Tim’s wife is having a their baby ! Woohoo ! !

B&Bers swim everyday rain hail or shine 365days a year !
Water temp was a lovely 20.2 degrees

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

A big thanks to Jill for the surf photos !

Carlton Quartly clocked up his 1000k badge on Sunday by doing a double

needing 2 swims to match Shelly
Have a great day ! Mine started out great !!!
Love you all ! !

Nothing stops the blog, eh? I can’t believe you lot swam that today. Legends! Manly’s traffic lights are all out. The streets are strewn with bin debris and foliage … plus occasional chainsaw sawdust. The sea itself is a broiling maelstrom, and the waves seem to be bunched up close. I saw a lone surfer out there at 9.20 a.m. and it looked a little insane to be doing this. About 125 metres of white foam along the shoreline, and wash-out ravines cut into the sand at our end. Apparently Collaroy Plateau is locked up and inescapable, for the fallen trees. There were carpark spaces all through Manly – and various cafes bolted shut. The harbour is full of white caps … nil ferry parked at the wharf. I reckon there’ll be yachts beached at Little Manly by tomorrow. Me and the cat are staying indoors!

It was only a gigantic tree crashing onto my roof and bringing down my power lines that stopped me swimming to Shelly this morning. Still waiting for Brian and Mel to arrive!!
