The Booty Boss & Gayle doing a run to the pipe and back

Conditions  weren’t looking that great as different sets came rolling in !

Cap’less Dave ponders the 6.30 swim as a lone swimmer !

the other two went the halfway option !

Cap’less Dave mounting the first of many waves to get out

you can see he made thru, just twenty more to go Dave !!!

North head loses its $h!t…….”Power was lost at the North Head  Waste Water Treatment Plant at 8:20am and restored at 11am on Tuesday 21 April, but due to the unprecedented volume of stormwater entering the sewer system, about 40 million litres of heavily diluted, partially treated wastewater entered the ocean off the cliff face at North Head”

Rainer said…I thought the water tasted a bit funky this morning. Let’s compare skin ulcers and bowel movements throughout the day..

Tasted fine to me !

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

As I look back it seems cap’less Dave made it back as we the 7amers march round to the Fairy Bower halfway Beach steps

“As is the case during any rainfall event, Sydney Water advises customers not to swim at beaches due to possible stormwater and wastewater pollution. Check Beachwatch for more details.”

Gayle seems excited to be having her first swim since Monday

Michele in her wet suit, not quite winter yet Michele !!

My name sake Shelly Beach has retained most of the sand & gained a lot of weed.

Shaun spots Rainer getting the jump on him back to halfway beach !

is that cheating Shaun ? ?

Rainer who entered from the surf, decided on  whipping Shaun’s arse in a race back to halfway !

Ian told me it was 19.9 degrees today, but I never saw him with the official thermometer !

didn’t even see our official temperature taker John Bond or our “Lets Go! ” man John Kelly !

Fair Weather swimmers

A bit to late to run now Shaun !

Rainer’s already at the steps boasting how he got the jump on you.

Rainer sporting his new white singlet above some racing jammers

A” team slumming it again @ Bluewater !

Sterling will be tomorrows blogger if you want your photo taken ! see him !!!

Have a great day ! Mine started out great !!!

I was waiting to see if you mad folk went out in the rain or err that other stuff.
Looking forward to seeing if anyone grows an extra limb or breaks out in a rash!

    Great coverage Shelly.
Speaking of coverage, I was very impressed to see your bikini staying in place despite the rough swell this morning.
    How do you do it?!

I’ve been waiting all day to see who the true nutters were who swam this morning!!
Good onya. BIt concerned about Ian’s lack of newbie recruitment in the past few days…and come to think of it, he has only appeared in the coffee shop shots – did he get wet??

I have not been able to log yesterday’s swim because our internet is out of action due to storm damage.
and this library internet does not get me to my log-in page; frustrating.
I did not swim today only because of lightning!
It’s my understanding that at Nth Head, sewage can bypass the secondary and tertiary treatment if the storage tunnel is full, pumps fail and cannot pump raw sewage up to the treatment plant about 60 m above sea level, it then gets to be almost like the 60s cliff face discharge although some screening should happen.
Yesterday the water at 7 am did not smell or taste sewage -like to me.
I thought that Nth Head STP had several power supply mains and some stand-by generation ability so loss of power should be rare,
    Ian the slower.

Lightning?? (no mention of that in the blog) as well as waves and sewerage…sounds like a good decision to stay dry !!

Yeh, pics of the surf at Manly and the Bower, as well as the dam, just featured on the BBC news here in HK! I didn’t have my glasses on, otherwise I’m sure I’d have seen the pink caps:)
