Sat 11/7: As cold as …

11/07/20158

Congratulations to Sterling – his 1000km milestone reached this morning!

From holidays in hot humid weather

To heaters and wearing a sweater

The temperature drop

Has been a great shock

I hope I can cope a lot better!

This was me this morning:

Now I know it wasn’t that cold (5 degrees outside and 17 degrees in the water), however, all this talk of cold fronts and wintry conditions had me envisaging this ‘thing’ upon entering the water this morning…  A riddle in photos for you today:

Despite thinking about icebergs, it was a really clear and lovely morning!  The cloud had a gold lining:

And an awesome glow:

Everyone was keen to get a move on:

Have a warm day!

Signing off, Anna

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Social Agenda One – B&B Monthly Dinner

Tuesday 14 July @ Bluewater
Our next speaker is David Walton.  David was in charge of the internal affairs operation into the Manly Police in the noughts.  This was a time when a few locals (law enforcement and colourful identities) were put before the courts for corruption related activity.  David has the inside “underbelly” story of what “went down” and the technology used to catch the culprits.
Don’t miss it!  Book here now!

OMGoodness Sterling looks hilarious in that gear. Congratulations to him. More than 10,000 people have swum with the B&B but only 50 have reached the impressive milestone of 1,000 kms swum. Congratulations to all our Top 50 you only reach 1,000 km swum by showing real and sustained commitment. Well done

Gorgeous blog. And a truly stirling achievement, Sterling… Re iceberg temperatures – the tingling skin’s the thing…so abandon you wetsuit if you dare. And another thing, fellow B&Ber, Colly, says that the best time to backstroke is when it’s cloudy and you can look up at their fascinating formations, but so was to-day gazing up at blue sunlit skies and then flipping over doing freestyle looking at the sandy seabed through crystal clear waters and then round the point to shore enjoying the rocks, seaweed, vivid green sea grass and heaps of little fish. Why would you not roll out of a warm, cosy bed for joy such as this?

Simon don’t forget the ice sculpture of ice hockey! 😉 Bradbury -> slip and slide just like the penguins ‘skating on ice’. Everyone can be a winner!

Thanks Roger! I went to the Philippines to visit family and friends, escape the cold, and participate in my first overseas triathlon race. Unfortunately the swim leg was cancelled in lieu of typhoon swell. It was strange and wonderful to bump into Sandra – a B&B regular! How small the big wide world can seem.

    Anna
Can’t resist a good riddle, thanks for the exercise. Thought there’d be more takers.
