Thankfulness

11/08/20173

What a morning – another opportunity to be thankful for the good things in our lives…

The Spaniard is thankful that Alice recently said yes to marrying him!

I was preaching last Sunday on the benefits of cultivating thankfulness and came across this from a Harvard Medical School report…

“With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. In the process, people usually recognize that the source of that goodness lies at least partially outside themselves. As a result, gratitude also helps people connect to something larger than themselves as individuals — whether to other people, nature, or a higher power.

In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

Roger and Simon are thankful for coffee after their 5:22am swim…

The opposite of thankfulness can be self pity, victimhood and negativity. Not to discount the very real difficulties people face in life, but when we choose to be thankful, it can move us into the future with a sense of purpose and gratitude.

The kid and the girl kid are grateful for post swim sunshine!

Sterling and Holly thankful for a swim amongst the craziness of life!

Triathletes… thankful for Friday mornings at the Bold and Beautiful…

And I’m thankful for a healthy and happy family, a place to live, a job I love and an amazing community in Manly down at our little swim (and beating Sterling… every morning)!

Have a great day!

The Bishop

I’m thankful Julie Isbill and Michael Christie started this group and they were here today! It was also lovely Kerry Jukes’s 1000 km swim yay! What a beautiful day it is today, very grateful! Thanks for the reminder Bishop.
