The secret is out. You know who you are. You come down for a swim just to get a hug. Well now there is good science (no not like climate ‘science’) that proves hugging is good for your health – maybe even better than swimming. Yes science has now proved hugging boosts your happiness levels. It turns out that a good hug is the fastest way to boost your oxytocin levels. Oxytocin is the ‘love drug’ that gives you three natural highs – lowers your blood pressure, lowers your cortisol (the stress hormone) and increases your sense of belonging. The research also shows what women know and men have been denying for years – it needs to last longer than twenty seconds – no premature withdrawal from the hug – to get the full chemical benefits. We saw some lovely long hugs today…maybe the big swell was the excuse…
From mother and son all the way from Germany to hug and swim…
Of course great couples know how to hug…
And good friends enjoy a good hug…
Then there’s the A team all boy hug…with all that male bonding and oxytocin released I’m surprised they can still swim so fast…
My most enthusiastic hugger this morning was Mike… once he got started it was hard to get him to stop hugging…
And finally the man all the girls love to hug… Errol the hug magnet…
Keep on swimming and keep on hugging….

I’m going to the monthly dinner on Tuesday and will be arriving at Manly straight from work for a pre-dinner swim.
It would fun to have some company for all or part of it.
The plan is start at 4:30pm and swim 3 laps to Shelly, returning to the beach at Manly at 5 and 5:30pm if anyone is interested in joining me then. Finish at 6pm for shower before dinner at 6:30.
Any takers?
