7 January 2018 – what a stinker..the weather and this blog..

January 7, 201816

I received a text this morning from today’s rostered-on blogger Lips…

He can’t make the swim and could I blog instead?

I haven’t blogged for 2 years …and you’ll see why below.. … I grabbed my camera and headed down.

On the way I saw the 6.30’ers walking down to the harbour – The “blue-bottle harbour march” …after yesterday’s surprise attack…

Back at the beach side though conditions were rough-ish.. didn’t really hear any reports of bluey’s

And boy it was PACKED out – well over 500 peeps … click on this photo – you can see the swimmers all the way back along the path…

Swimmers streamed into the water for over 10 minutes…

A lot headed to half way because of the rough conditions…

including Mary…and me! 😀

The swimmers streaming one long line all the way to Shelly,,,,

At halfway I bumped into these divers…. really near the surface!

The view looking towards Shelly… I couldn’t see a thing…

There were waves of people coming in and leaving all at the same time – amazing there were no collisions (that I knew of…)

A new trend among the regular swimmers – wait a few minutes until the main mob leave Shelly..

Lisa is back! The WOW’s celebrate her return… As I am not on Facebook I have no idea where she has been 😉

Lots of these jellies around at the moment…

Back onshore Bernhard was parading around trying to impress us with his blue bottle sting from yesterday…

To summarise: crowded, stinking hot, blue bottles, murky, rough..  and we LOVE IT! 🙂

Signing off Lesbubs

Many thanks to Robyn D and Elaine for filling in as greeters this morning and wrangling 55 new swimmers into the sea!

    Yeh Lesbubs
I thought you were going to say Lips was bluebottled on the lips again.
At 6:30 14 of us swam the calm stinger free waters to Little Manly return.

Wow, so many newbies and swimmers. Great blog and I love that photo of the sun looking at you. All the blue bottle stings yesterday were massive, we were lucky to escape unscathed. Want to come back to blogging Lesley? On a Saturday? 🙂

Well Done Lesbubbles. A great blog. No one would know you haven’t done it for 2 years. A great photo capturing the big group which stretches from Manly to Shelley. There were SO many people. Great work Anne!! The photo of the sun is Amazing. It is exactly like that – you just can’t see anything.

Not too bad for your first blog in two years, you haven’t lost your blogging skills (and humour) at all.
Except for the last photo which is a clear breach of privacy laws. My medical condition (bluey imprint on my back) is a matter only for my healthcare professional and I, and not for the public domain. I don’t want management, conscious of their responsibility for all swimmers, to intervene and declare me unfit for swimming

I bet you got quite a thrill hanging out over those divers LesBubbles enjoying their bubbles! Great blog although I missed your trade mark speech bubbles. Next blog soon! Robyn and I hardly did anything compared to Anne E who does such a good job with all these newbies. Thanks Anne, you’ volunteer so much if your time, b & b, Avner Pancreatic Foundation, Friends ofCabbage Tree Bay… You’re a gem.
