Over 48 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
8 swimmers for Bolderdash.
An interesting morning transpired as we swam up to Queenscliff for Bolderdash, with 6 of us waiting for the remaining two wondering if they had got out due to bluies, then Jan and Gaetan appeared covered in blue bottle stings, they had swum right into a clump of them in some flat water at North Steyne. Gaetan quoted it was like swimming into a spiders web of blue bottles. Uhmm, not much of a decision for 5 of us we got out at Queenscliff and walked back to Manly.
We decided to then take the regular 7am B&B swim over to the Harbour. The Harbour was delightful, the clearest it’s been this season and it was like swimming though an aquarium.
It transpires that this was a very good choice: Nick, Michael and Brendan swam back blue bottle free from Queenscliff however, they then tried to continue onto Shelly but 20 meters in Nick copped a beauty, so they stopped looked around and realized they were surrounded by them.
All in all we’d have to be pretty happy with our Harbour swim 🙂
Water Temperature 24.7 degrees.
Sunrise 6.15am.

High Tide: 7.18am.
Low Tide: 2.07pm.

I don’t know what everyone is carrying on about. I swam to Queenscliff and back with NO stings at all. Going into Shelly I got an awful fright as I thought the shark alarm had gone off. It was just Nick screaming with his bluebottle sting though, so nothing to worry [me] about.

ahahaha Michael you are a funny man! Jan and I just cleaned up the way for you 🙂
Blue Bottles ambushment aside, it was still a lovely swim and a wonderful… walk back from Queenscliff 😉
How sad is it that Bolderdash is terminating this week (it’s really dark now at 5:50am), I am hoping we can still do this 3km swim every now and then probably at a later time?
So people don’t miss out on wednesday and friday else you’ll have to wait till next November!

That is sad, perhaps we could have longer swims on the weekends continuing on from the Shelly swim?
