In 2011 a crack commando unit of hardened swimmers set out to swim every day of the year including all through winter. Some of these swimmers were so hard they swam without wetsuits, a few were sectioned and deemed to be insane……These people promptly escaped from maximum security hospital to the murky world of the pacific ocean .
Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as swimmers of fortune. If you have a problem staying in bed in the morning, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can join… The B&B Team.
Today’s turnout: 56 swam
17.3 but felt more like 7.3 when we got in.
Stephen C & Dave did double crossing at 6:20.Tomorrow is the last day of Winter, double swim at 6:20 if your tough enough.
Lesley swam with the thermometer stashed somewhere on her person (don’t ask where!) to check the temp along the swim, it turns out the middle of the swim is the warmest and Shelly is the same temp as manly beach.
Beautiful swimming conditions this morning, flat water and great visibility. There were some tasty sized wobbegongs at the point this morning, at the point I saw something large move in my corner vision and thought to myself ‘shall i look or just keep swimming and pretend its not moving’. A couple of swimmers braved the water at 6.20 this morning for a double swim.
We had a Rogue ‘lets go’ this morning while we were still waiting for 2 swimmers to catch up at the point, Sandy informed me it was a cheeky shout from Attracta!!
Last day of winter tomorrow for all those that only have one more swim to get there badge – tomorrow is the day for that swim!!
Fact of the day: The Shark is the only animal that (apparently) never gets sick. They are immune to every known disease including cancer.

Dardanelles update:
Everyone tucked up in their rooms ready for the big day tomorrow after a long but fun bus trip and a lovely afternoon at Galipolli.
The currents in the Dardanelles are very strong, 7km an hour kept being reported at the briefing! Uhmm, that’s really helped calm
everyone’s nerves… The wind should be kind to us though we hope and the water is 22 degrees.
Europe to Asia here we come.
Thank you from everyone here for all good luck comments that we have been receiving via lots of channels and a big group hug thank you to
Stephen Coulter for the lovely cards, everyone is very touched – thank you x
The swim is not until 1pm our time, 8pm your time. It will be a very proud day tomorrow when all of swimmers cross the finish line. Go you
good things 🙂
Pic update: A few nervous faces at Brekkie
We have to leave at 8.45am and be in town in pink cossies from 9am until swim at 1pm…
Water Temperature: 17.3
Air Temperature: cold
Sunrise 6.17am
Sunset 5.35pm

That was the biggest wobbegong shark I have ever seen this morning, it stopped me mid stroke and demanded my attention, such a beautiful creature. Great to have the clear visibility back again, i think????
Good luck Dardanillian swimmers xxx

I think it was my nipples the blog referred to – Elaine made a point of them!
Good luck with the Hellespont Dardenellers, sounds like the 7kmh favourable current will be helpful and maybe not require the hidden flippers on the flappers Izzi?!
(In the 1920s, a new woman was born. She smoked, drank, danced, and voted. She cut her hair, wore make-up, and went to petting parties. She was giddy and took risks. She was a flapper.
She was feminine but also broke through several gender barriers for her attire allowed her to participate in sports, including golf, roller skating, ocean swimming and bicycling.)

Indeed the current is in our favour in principle apart from the first 700m when we have to go against it and the rest we have to cross…
