2nd May 2017 – And then it was May

May 2, 20178

With a low tide at 7.30, 30 cm of swell from the north east and the lightest of 5K west nor west wind and most importantly a stunning 22 degrees, it was hard to imagine we were in May. The Rubber has usually long since made its appearance on many a day by this time. As Martin said this morning, we will hold out to the last possible moment. At the rate we are going we may see 20 degrees into June.

The official stats saw 250 merry souls dive in today joined by 7 newbies.

A Photo tells a thousand words. Look at the excitement.

Sparkles struggling to contain the excitement.

Excitement everywhere.

And then some.

A very mellow start.

This guy met us at Shelley.

Lots of action on the way over.

And lots of Fish

And Sharks

It helped to pick up the Pace

Very warm conditions particularly at the Point.

A spectacular start to the day.

On another matter, a number of us are planning to take a Vivid cruise on the 6th of June in a Catamaran that can seat 38 at tables. Food is included and the first drink. Additional available at a bar onboard. Cost is $60 for 3hrs departing Manly Wharf at 6pm. If you are interested can you send me a mail with the subject vivid cruise to brian@manlybasketball.com.au.

And now some news from our swim to New Yorkers.

Special Event – Swim with all your Heart

Join the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad, Manly on Saturday 13th May in support of Heart Research Australia by wearing something red and making a donation before you head off into the water.

Heart Research Australia supports ground-breaking research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease – Australia’s biggest killer. Did you know that four times more women die from heart disease than breast cancer and that every 9 minutes someone has a heart attack in Australia? These are indeed very worrying statistics, which is why Heart Research Australia’s researchers have dedicated their lives to finding new ways to fight this disease.

Because the type of first-stage research they fund does not receive any government funding, they are 100% reliant on the support from the community to help them fund these inspiring researchers. Please show your support towards this life-saving organisation by making a cash donation either before your swim on the 13th May or online at www.heartresearch.com.au/donation using ‘Swim’ as your reference.
