Well over 238 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
If you swam but didn’t tick please let us know so we can try to get an accurate recording for today’s swim as it was mega and a record for sure !! 🙂
It’s hardly surprising either as it was just the most magnificent morning with delightfully warm clear water and beautiful blue skies.
What’s to say really other than WOW WOW WOW !!! 🙂

Congratulations to Billy Derrin who started his Bucks Party with a swim in a mankini this morning… Billy you go down in history as B&B’s first mankini wearer !! Enjoy your day 🙂

We certainly packed out Shelly beach at half time this morning 😉

Some lovely photos below: Gaetan’s stunning early sunrise shot over Shelly, Robin’s lovely photo of us entering the water and James’ beautiful Bower aquarium pictures. Gosh we’re so lucky to be able to share all these photos, thanks for sending them in !!
63 swimmers continued on to participate in the 6 and 10km summer badge swims this morning and what a superb last summer badge swim of the season, it couldn’t have been any better. A mammoth turnout and an outstanding effort by everyone, magic !!

It was fantastic to be joined by Timberlie on a board for our first let up to Freshie and back and Yasmin accompanied the 8 guys who swam around to Curl Curl and back while the rest of us swam back to Manly for our well earned Teddy Bears Picnic where we were privileged to have been rewarded with a piece of Jonny’s first ever home-made cake !! 🙂
23 of us then jumped back in for another lap up to Freshie and back to complete our 10km swim for the morning 🙂

Well done and a huge congratulations to everyone to qualified for the 2012 6km and 10km summer badges – brilliant !! The badge ceremony will be held on Sunday 11th March straight after the swim at Manly Wine, so please come along to be awarded your badge (at a cost of $10 each).
It’s great to see Neil Cowin back with us, he will be here for the week so please come down and have a swim with him 🙂
GOOD LUCK TO BEN AND BRENDAN WHO ARE SWIMMING THE ROTTNEST CHANNEL SOLO TODAY !!!

I finished! Thankfully the group waited for me (many times)! Michael says I could be the winner of the Barnacle Award (as I’m always just hanging in there, I think)! Thanks for all of your support during the first 6 kms…see you sometime this week!

Over 220 participants – incredible. Excellent conditions for the Challenge swims. Well done to all swimmers who completed their 6km or 10km, especially first timers. Wishing Brendan and Ben success in their Rottnest Channel swim.

That was stunningly clear warm water. A hot sun too. I hope you all slapped on the sunscreen otherwise there will some ‘rednecks’ in Manly tomorrow.

Michael I think I heard Jules say how good the Mankini would look in pink. Just a bit of a problem where to print the B&B logo.

if we start wearing pink mankinis, I’ll be moving to Melbourne, or anywhere that I don’t have to look at them.

Paige that was a FANTASTIC EFFORT on your part, quite spontaneous!
Actually a tremendous effort by everybody. UNBELIEVABLE.
When we first floated the idea of a ten k badge everybody was quite unimpressed.[euphemism]. 32 swimmers finishing today is incredible.
The reason everyone gets there is the tremendous support you all give to each other and the universal camaraderie and good humour, which is so obvious to any observer.

What a successful summer we have all had, despite the weather not often being in our favour, we have had thousands of swimmers joining in, enjoying their swims and making wonderful friends 🙂
On top of that we’ve had a 100% increase in the number of swimmers qualifying for their summer badges:
123 people got their 6km badge
66 people got their 10km badge
Now the icing is on the cake with Ben and Brendan both very successfully completing Rottnest !
What a wonderful summer for all of us. You guys rock !
If you would like to see who’s qualified for 2012 6 & 10km badges please click on the link below and download the 2 files 🙂

Neil, you gave me the most fantastic support during the 6km swim this morning – so glad you have come back, I could never have managed it without you continually pointing me in the right direction! – and especially preventing me feeling totally alone in that wide blue sea. Huge thanks.

Ben and Brendo WELL DONE!! That is a mammoth effort but you did it and now you can stop swimming so much……you must be so relieved to be out of the water.
Thanks to Vicki for the “winners energy bars” and Jalna for the little white tablets. I couldn’t have got back in the water without them
Michael, I’m coming to Melb too if I spot anyone in a mankini. It looks painful

What “little white tablets”????
Could you bring a ‘specimen’ in the morning please Sandy?

My thoughts precisely Jalna. Surely it’s the next B&B clothing item for sale in pink. It looks like a sensible bit of swimwear – for men.

Sandy I don’t want to be responsible for you losing your hard earned 10 K badge due to suspicion of use of performance enhancing drugs. But, really really really Anna and Michael they were only glucose….really.
