Morning all,
Seeing this mornings sunrise, it was almost a given we were heading for some heat today.
With a lumpy 1/2 to 1 meter ENE wind swell smacking the point with a almost dead low tide and the last few days having some bities to deal with I figured numbers would be down today but this Tuesday crew is pretty resilient and seemed like everyone showed up with what felt like about 240 souls bearing their best stroke as they put to sea. We had 8 newbies christened this morning and the usual keen as mustard 6:30 mob paving the way.
With 5 mins to run, it was all hands on deck.
With a drop in swell expected this afternoon, we are forecast to see double the swell tomorrow before it fades into Thursday.
A number of punters went the inside passage and swum in the harbour this morning reporting clear but cold water.
John Bond asked me to draw your attention to the note at the bottom of the board re the 10K. Consider it noted.
A nice 22 degrees for the open water participants but with all the water on the move, PB’s were unlikely.
Big call out to all those who faced their wave fears and emerged victorious this morning. Job well done.
The Shelley gathering was well spread out due to the lumps and bumps.
The return cleaned up as we rounded the point.
And this morning with much fan fare Mary emerged a 1K Club member with distinction.
And thats a Personal Best. Next 1000 will be tougher, but she is already in training.
Legendary.

| AUSTRALIA DAY – this Thursday
As usual, Australia Day will be HUGE. Please try to arrive early and wait on the beach if possible to avoid congestion on the walkway. There will be a short ceremony on the beach before the swim, so practice your National Anthem!! This year, we are encouraging everyone to wear our national colours/flags or other paraphernalia. It should be an impressive sight. Lost and Found Jumble Sale – Sunday 29th January Due to a lack of storage space, the time has come for us to liquidate all of the lost and found items we have collected over the past 6 years. We have a large array of pre-owned and lost swimming paraphernalia that hasn’t been collected, including: Swimmers Goggles Flippers Snorkels Wetsuits Sunglasses Sought after old-style hoodie and more … These will be sold off at bargain basement prices along with some new swimmers donated by Zoggs. So next Sunday, please bring some spare cash to take advantage of lots of amazing bargains. All proceeds will go towards Heart Research Australia’s I Love Life campaign, which will happen shortly.
