23/05/2011 – Cuddle a Baby…

May 23, 20117

28 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

A dark and windy start with washing machine like conditions, but oh my gosh it was one of those swims you’ll kick yourself if you missed it…

Vicki Harbutt is very grateful that Michael Christie chased her up the beach and dragged her back in, in a friendly and willing way of course… 🙂

As I swam into Shelly there was a large school of yellowtail on the surface lip smacking, so when I surfaced I said to Gavin I think they wanted to eat me, he said they were trying to kiss me, oh of course they were 🙂 🙂

Iain McGregor found a baby Port Jackson shark at Shelly Beach, he just climbed up onto Iain. He was about 8″ long and so absolutely gorgeous and very cuddly. We all got to interact with this beautiful brand new baby shark. Chloe McGeachie got to release our little baby. How cool and what a great story for Chloe to be able to share with her friends at school today ! 🙂

Anna Alvsdotter and Christy McLean were inspired to swim back over the rocks and they saw an enormous giant cuttlefish and three flatheads 🙂

Lessons for today; never stay in bed and never swim without a camera !

Today’s great photos courtesy of James Goins.

Water Temperature 20.0 degrees.
Sunrise 6.45am.
Sunset 4.58pm.
Low Tide: 7.05am.
High Tide: 1.09pm.

Very special today. Christie and I also discovered, as we swam back along the rocks from Shelly beach, that countless of enormous schools of fish were hovering under the drifting chunks of seaweed.
Det var jäklar i mig en ljuvlig simtur som jag inte glömmer I första taget. (best foreign language genre)

    Wow..
I didn’t think I had a paternal instinct in me but that little shark really tugged on my heartstrings.
All the way back I was imagining becoming his adopted father and eventually having my own 8 to 10ft shark to swim with, bring me fresh kingfish and scare the f… out of people who upset me.
Very cool start to the week.
ps. Izzy I love you and please bring more chocolate, sweets and other delicious delights tomorrow!

Of course all pink caps will be friends but I delight more in thinking about who the potential NOT friends could be…….

    Sounds like the ‘thriller’ genre…?

Well tomorrow is sunny, with low wind and the water temperature above 20c. The swell will be less than 0.5m, so it should be great.
Wednesday will have a swell of 5.5m which will be completely SOUTHERLY, and MSW says there will be NO INCOMING SWELL at the Bower.
