22/01/2011 – Carnival Consideration

January 22, 20112

Over 58 Bold & Beautiful swimmers, including 10 new swimmers – welcome to you all 🙂

As planned we migrated to the harbour this morning due to Manly LSC’s carnival which is well attended by participants from all around the country.

We had a gorgeous swim with delightfully warm flat water.

I understand there were some Blue Bottles in the ocean so it ended up being a good coincidence having choosen to swim in the Harbour 🙂

12 people continued on: 10 of whom completed the 6km summer badge swim – congratulations to Brendan Maher, Bruce Baird, Ed Bodkin, Gaetan Guilhon, Iain McGregor, Michel Le Vieux, Michael Christie, Neil Maclean, Joanne Davis, Richard Agius.

Thomas Landgrebe swam 4.5km after tag teaming with his wife Debbie, who participated in her inaugural swim, so they could look after their children and Cam Stewart who joined in for ~3.5km as a warm up for the 6km next time.

Water Temperature 23.8 degrees.
Sunrise 6.06am.
Sunset 8.07pm.
High Tide: 10.52am.
Low Tide: 5.23pm.

Belated happy Birthday Jules. Loved the video with the whale. Nearly wet myself laughing.
Jealous of the warm water and temps BUT WAIT I’m in Whistler and the snow is amazing. Did a 5 km run home on Blackcomb Mountain today so I’m in heaven. My swimming has done me good I can keep up with the young guys. Gearing up for my Sat am 6 km ski tomorrow. Molly had a big face plant, ski patrol, hospital, black eye, bruised ego but back up tomorrow. Missing you all heaps. Did Mrs Knapman survive the great whites?
