20/07/2011 – Wet Swim

July 20, 20117

21 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

Good to see equality prevailed this morning as Iain McGregor & Mechelle Hare both completed the bonus early lap in the serious darkness. Despite Iain sending me a text at 6.20am Michael and I managed to resist the temptation, thanks though mate 😉

The first photo, courtesy of Stephen Coulter, beautifully captures this mornings weather, maybe people were worried about swimming this morning in case they got wet ??

Today is the first day we have been under 40 swimmers in over a month and it’s winter, pretty damn good I reckon !!

Laurence Stubbs came all the way up from Wollongong this morning to swim with us, now what’s everyone else’s excuse ???

Jenny Knapman did the hardest bit and got out of bed, drove down to the swim and phoned me from the comfort of her car, but no amount of persuasion would get her out of her car… not even Ian Forster and myself running out to the road to try to highjack her from her car, which we couldn’t find !

I’m sure Claire Egbers and Boy Michel said they were definitely swimming this morning, but I couldn’t see them anywhere… !?

The swim was actually lovely, albeit in reasonably murky water and there was a supersized grouper at Shelly Beach… Kieran Kelly landed on me. His  story goes: “oh sorry my goggles were so foggy I didn’t  realise I was at Shelly Beach” 😉

Check out the great B&B on tour photo from Salli Alderson in a sports store in the UK. Love it Salli ! Who are all the poor people you roped into it with you ??

The last photo is also courtesy of Stephen Coulter, it was taken last night at both his sons birthday dinner; Declan 18 and Jack 20 – happy birthday guys ! What I want to know is how did Stephen manage to produce such good looking boys ?? 😉

One of our stoical swimmers, Tomas Lees, sadly dislocated three shoulders, yes three ! He did one of them in his sleep at 3am, had a quick visit to Manly Emergency unit for reduction but then unfortunately dislocated both shoulders only a few hours later :-(. Tomas is hopefully having surgery on Monday. Get well soon Tomas !! We wish you a full and speedy recovery as we can’t wait to see you back in the water and at brekkie soon xx

Water Temperature 17.5 degrees. Air Temperature 13 degrees.

Sunrise 6.56am.
Sunset 5.07pm.
High Tide: 11.40am.
Low Tide: 5.26pm.

Hmmmmmm!! Quite chilly this morning but really not too bad a swim at all.
I ALMOST felt sorry that I didn’t swim at 6.20.
Is anyone up for an early one tomorrow??? there may be some waves but it looks like at least tomorrow the swell will be very southerly, so we shouldn’t see much of it. I might be happy to go down early to have a look and wimp out if necessary.
    Any takers???

Hi Michael, I will join you at 6.20 tomorrow and won’t “mistakenly” set the alarm for a 7.00am start like I did on tuesday.
