19/12/2010 – Christmas Adventure Swim

December 19, 20106

72 Bold & Beautiful Swimmers completed the ~3.5km swim from Manly to South Curl Curl, taking us along the two beautiful headlands: Queenscliff and then the stunning long South Curly headland into the great open beach for the well earned coffee and brekkie at their fantastic kiosk.

We had 6 people join us on craft and 6 people join us as the ever important land contingent. Great fun and fantastic achievements were obtained by all.

Our youngest Amy, 15 and our most senior Wilf, 76 and a whole mix in-between – great morning everyone, thank you for being a part of it and making it so much fun and a great spectacle for many passers by – I wonder what the rock fisherman off South Curly said as we all flowed past…? 🙂

Photos will be available soon .

There were also ~15 swimmers who did the regular Manly- Shelly Beach swim.

Water Temperature 20.1 degrees.
Sunrise 5.40am.
Sunset 8.04pm.
High Tide: 7.24am.
Low Tide: 2.08pm.

Totally awesome weekend. Thanks Jules and Michael. Buddy system a great idea. Thanks to Paul & Sandy for buddying up with Little Cub. A great spectacle to watch from the headland at South Curly. The fisherman were hauling in quite a catch, a massive fish hanging tailfirst out of their bucket.

What an awesome swim and what a spectacle it must have been from the headlands with close to 80 pink hats drifting by. Jenny Holmes flogged past me at Queenscliff and LEFT ME all on my own, to get in miles ahead of me at Curl Curl. What a fabulous achievement. Congratulations to Jenny and everyone else.

Thanks to all who organised our fun day today, particularly the unsung heroes who helped to move the gear and people to and from South Curly. Thanks Tim for taking my cam on the watercraft. Have some great pics of the pink peloton to put up soon as I can get them into your hands Jules. Can’t miss the party next year!
