August 15, 201138

49 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.

The conditions are still beautiful, although a little cloudy in the water, with a fantastic little body surfing wave to take us back to shore.

Anna Alvsdotter is babysitting a gorgeous chocolate Labrador called Binty who you can see in the third photo calling out to us all as we start our swim. Ian Forster’s wife Pauline walked while we swam this morning and witnessed Binty barking at any
passerby who stopped to look at our tick sheets until they gave what Binty deemed a respectable distance. How cute is that 🙂

Now talking of cute… who is the seriously cute swimmer, wearing pink none the less, featured in the photo attached, taken 30 years ago whilst on a holiday in Tunisia ??

Mum and Dads friend, George Martin has decided we have too much of a good thing out here so he has submitted an on tour photo, taken as he cooked a BBQ dressed in Aussie clothes 🙂

Happy birthday to Anne Lemon today 🙂

Water Temperature 17.3 degrees.
Air Temperature 9.7 degrees.
Sunrise 6.35am.
Sunset 5.25pm.

Hi All, lovely swim this morning as usual!
can I ask, are any of you aware of any rental properties due on the market over the coming months? we’ve to move out by the end of november latest, but I reckon now is a better time to start looking. So if any of you have any leads I’d really appreciate a heads up! We’re looking for a 2-3 bed, ideally within a 20 minute walk to Corso. thanks a lot, Rob

The unit above me at 33 Fairlight Crescent is for rent. The owners, Martin and Trisha Coleman, live in Melbourne and are friends of mine. Martin’s email is
It’s 2 bedrooms. lovely but might be a bit small for 2, but worth following up. Unfurnished, no garage.

    Hello Everyone,
I have arrived in Dover and after a short 14 hour sleep and awakening to the sound of seagulls I am about to go swimming in the harbor.
The sun is yet to rise so the lights over France can be seen on the horizon.
Thank you again for all the inspiring messages and more importantly your company on the so many swims we have all done together.
I just hope the channel is ready for a man in pink!
    Iain

A man in pink is just what the Channel has been waiting for, it’s gonna love you and you’re gonna eat it up 😉
Good to hear from you Iain, enjoy the tranquil waters of Dover Harbour xx

Iain dear, you’re making it sound too much like a last farewell….!
The Channel – it’s not that far. After all, you can even see the French lights, can’t you?
Oooh-la-la, I hope France is ready for a man in pink 🙂

Most of you will recall the lovely lady, Hazel Day who visited Manly ocean every morning to get her dose of Dr Salt, in later months she would appreciate the company of one of the council lifeguards to assist here safely for her daily ocean dip and when they were unavailable there was always a ready couple of B&B swimmers who were only to happy to accompany Hazel and be inspired by her.
We have just been advised that sadly Hazel passed away over the weekend aged 91.
Our thoughts are with Hazel’s friends and family at this time.

I still stand by my first guess that it’s Tim

  • Rob

surely that boy is a bit too close to the water to be Tim? I haven’t seen Tim get wet in a long time!

Good to hear from you Iain, lets know how its going. I’ll bet the channel is a bit colder than Shelly??

  • Iain

    August 15, 2011 at 6:19 pm

Swim was nice this morning with very similar water temperatures to Shelly at the moment.
The water visibility is terrible!!! You literally can not see further than 4 feet ahead of you.
France on the horizon is priceless however (yes i sound like a credit card add).

So you have been wearing pink for your entire life Jules?

  • Pacific Jules

    August 15, 2011 at 7:34 pm

No, I actually hated pink as a kid so I don’t know how that happened !  I think it might have been a compromise with my Mum; I didn’t have to wear my bikini top (at that age) IF I wore pink bikini bottoms so people would know I was a girl… 😉

Can we replicate the shot 30 years on diving into Fairy Bower pool? B&B men’s pink swimmers should be close enough!

  • Pacific Jules

    August 16, 2011 at 8:28 am

Anything for the good of BB Stephen ! I guess I could do it again, but only if every TV station is there with cameras on the ready as I really am very shy you know…

Maybe we just get someone needing to be rescued off Fairy Bower when you’re walking by in a G!
