Around 50 early swimmers at 6.30am. It may have seemed a miserable day when we woke up to rain and wind, but somehow it’s always a lot brighter down in our favourite corner… It’s my first ‘Dry Blog’ in over 4 years of blogging as have to dash off at 8.30am! (That means blogging without swimming not blogging without drinking!)
Always plenty of sunny smiles too. Pauline, Dea, Sue and Greg set off before the guys above at 6.20am…
Sophie obliges with one of her legendary joy jumps!
It’s 6.55am and the regulars congregate, not put off by the dreary weather.
Bikini, umbrella and dog, all a lady needs in life!
Shelly’s son joins her for a swim today as he’s off to Canberra soon and Guy’s son joins him for his 500 km swim!
Rainer manages a superb photobomb on the ladies!
Everyone said it was a beautiful swim and it poured as the 7amers crossed the bay. Edwina saw Shelly the Turtle!
Back at the Surf Club it’s Guy’s 500 km swim!
Go Guy!
…and Debbie from Galston swam for her birthday and her family joined her. Happy Birthday Debbie!
Important board info!
and some underwater photos taken last week when viz was great! Beautiful, bright blue friendly Groper.
The lovely Roz is organising another cake stall on Saturday as we really hope to help get building of the hospital in Nepal underway. Thank you so much for bringing in cakes and slices and buying them a month ago, please bring in something this Saturday if you can. We all enjoy this amazing activity free of charge, the least we can do is support these worthwhile causes….

Lovely to have Julie Isbill and Michael visiting at the weekend. Here’s Jules with Rob Heyter.
A note that the B&B 10km Ocean swim is on Saturday 11 of Feb. Roz and I are also putting on another Cake Stall for Dr Ray Hodgson’s charity Australians for Womens Health. We hope to raise $10,000 this year to help get the badly needed womens and childrens hospital underway. Please bring some cash and bake a cake or slice! We are very grateful to those of you who bought and baked last time. We will be at the Surf Club from 6.30am.

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Thanks Lainey for a sensational blog . . . . it’s such a bitter sweet feeling when you see what you missed out on !!
Just wondering though how everyone is finding their way into the new year?
I, for one am mightily confused . . . maybe I should get a B&B calendar to help me figure out what day of the week and which month it is??
February is a special month this year as advertised. It seems to have 2 Saturdays – 10th and 11th???
And what happened to alleged ladies Smuggler swimmers ??
I haven’t checked for a week or so….. but did lots of checking all through January to purchase a fab B&B ladies swimmers…… Are they available yet??
Hope all is well where ever you are xx
