06/05/2016 – Our Happy Place

May 6, 201618

I got down to our favourite corner of the world early today at 5.50am. It was so beautiful seeing the sky change colour and pattern over the ocean alongside the Shelly Beach headland… After 2 weeks in the dull, cold Northern hemisphere I’m so appreciating all the colour and light we are so lucky to enjoy here. Grateful for all the hugs, warmth and friendliness from the amazing B&B community too!

I managed to capture pinky hues through the shelter windows at around 5.55am.

These are the 6am swimmers heading out. There were around 20 today, some head North and most to Shelly.

A panorama shot at a secret spot I’ve found for taking good photos!

There’s around 40 for The Drinkless Express again today. Sarah and Rusty lead the group.

A blog isn’t the same without Annie. Here she is with Johnny.

and again!

The 7amers start to arrive, Jill, Little Sarah and Henrietta. Guess who’s photobombing in the background? Over 230 swimmers swam today including 5 newbies. Temperature was 20.5 degrees but it felt cold to me. I’ve already started bringing my 3 litre milk container filled with hot water and look forward to throwing it over myself all the way back from Shelly! How am I going to get my 4th year of ‘Winter without wetsuit’ badge this year?!!

Patrick has joined ‘The Old and Bold’ so gets to wear the bright pink vest. They train from 6-7am, so he’s off to work now.

We’ve got Shelly, our fortnightly blogger back on a casual basis. Aren’t we lucky! Here she is with her wife Gayle!

If you need a Personal Trainer, Sue Donnelly on the right is training one of our regular swimmers and he’s getting fitter by the minute. Jenny Kent is also a PT and we may have a few others. Feel free to mention it in comments at end.

There were wetsuits on sale today (see bottom of the blog). Lesbubbles gets to try one out. 20% discount for B&Bers.

Guess the Merman…

All smiles at Shelly as usual.

Here’s Lisa, our new, lovely fortnightly Wednesday blogger, who outdid herself as a virgin blogger on Wednesday!

We swam through schools of Yellowtail and Old Wives on the way back.

I only saw one Dusky today. How many did you see?

The water seemed the clearest around The Point today. Quite a lot of plankton and stuff around Shelly.

A Crimson Banded Wrasse darts away…

Here are the WOW ladies (women of the wall!) it was Edwina’s birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday to you!

Manly is aways full of surprises. Walking to The Benches I saw Sam doing his Acroyoga with Anna joining in.

Errol, Michelle, Nicky, Jeff, LSA, me Lainey, Roz and Jill.

The link above is to a photo compilation/video my son helped me with. (Yes they are all my photos DWSS) set to the background music of Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’.

A photo above of Justus Potgieter who is recovering in hospital at the moment. We wish him well and hope he can swim with us again soon.

Have a wonderful rest of the day folks!

Lainey

This is me yesterday with my new special mask/snorkel. Unfortunately on my first swim with it a wave pulled off the snorkel part. If you please find it in the ocean please get it back to me!

*Budgy Smuggler <http://budgysmuggler.com.au/>* is currently updating the
look of our B&B swimwear. They have some great new designs, but would also
like input from B&B swimmers. So we have introduced a *DESIGN COMPETITION*
to allow our swimmers to submit their own designs to feature on the new
Budgy Smuggler swimwear. All designs will be considered and the best design
(if there is one) will be used on the swimwear. Designs should be funky/fun
with a B&B theme, and preferably with a wider appeal outside the B&B
community. Designs will be judged by the Budgy Smuggler design team (and
selected B&B management). Designs should be submitted to ugoboyo@gmail.com
by *Saturday 4th June*, so let’s get the creative juices flowing. Budgy
Smuggler also encourage feedback on all aspects of the swimwear, including
shape, style, fabric etc
