43 ‘ticked’ Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
The water’s sooo clear it’s just magic right now. There were 2 Port Jacksons sitting on the sand supervising us as we swam back to Manly where it took us forever to get back to shore amongst all the chop.
Our winter badge ceremony is this Sunday at Manly Wine straight after the swim so please come along with $10 for your badge, unless you also qualified for a winter without wetsuit badge then you’ll need and extra $6. In fact if you think you qualified or a ‘www’ badge please can you let me know asap, thank you.
Tim’s fact of the day: dolphins sleep with only half of their brain asleep at anyone time.
It’s apparent however that
Tim and Linda have slotted back into their absentee status quite well….
Thanks to Stephen Coulter for today’s photos.
As you know we returned from our swim in the Darnanelles on Saturday night and I must say Etihad were absolutely fantastic to fly with, the service was terrific, the flight arrived home early and they must have something special in the cabin as we’re not even suffering from jet lag 🙂
Ian Forster found a pair of googles in the public male changing rooms on Saturday morning, if anyone lost them please could you let us know.
For those of you who knew Hazel Day and would like to be part of her final farewell, Hazel’s ashes are being scattered off the point this Thursday morning at 8.30am followed by breakfast at White Water.
Water Temperature 18.3 degrees.
Air Temperature 12 degrees.
Sunrise 6.09am.
Sunset 5.39pm.
Low Tide: 7.33am.
High Tide: 2.16pm.

I am sure I stood on a Port Jackson when I stood up at Shelly….or something that wasnt too happy. Certainly made my heart rate go up.

Jules, have you got Etihad coming on as a sponsor?
Pacific Jules

Unfortunately not, although that would be lovely and they would be more than welcome 🙂
I thought Etihad was worthy of comment as we had never flown with them before but we found them to be terrific so would definitely fly with them again.
Their service was terrific and their frequent flyer program seems good too.

Don’t worry Izzy [about your ignorance or the WWW badge] you qualify for the much more prestigious ISAWWEAP badge. What’s more there is only yourself and Vicki who qualify. Pretty exclusive eh!!

I was just passing the coffee shop behind the post office in Manly and all of its photos seem to be of B&B 🙂
There are some great group shots which appear to have been taken by photographer Vanessa Chaperlin, plus I think a couple of them are Stephen Coulter’s photos… the one of Dunstan surfacing and of Laura swimming. Stephen are they yours ???

What on earth is a Numb Fish? Or would that be any fish I stand on?

Yes. There is an Open Water Swimming Photo exhibition as part of the Manly Arts Festival at Red Earth Cafe on Short St. It would more accurately be described as a Bold & Beautiful Photography Exhibition! Jules,
Does my extra weight count as a wetsuit?

Its a bit like a sting ray but without a tail or sting. It has an electric current which can stun fish and things before it eats them. Have a look here, http://australianmuseum.net.au/Numbfish-Hypnos-monopterygium-Shaw-Nodder-1795

Yes I think you are right. It seemed to substantial to be a ray (those ones I call frying pans, the small ones) and too round for a shovelnose. I thought it may have been a wobbegong but this shape fits the bill perfectly. So pleased it saw fit not to electrify me.
