Oopsie!
Not only did I show up late, also did not check the calendar.
I started with Jo Gregory. We both expressed sadness over the absence of the cheesy one. Hopefully he will be back soon.
I’d been reading the blogs from the past week with some excitement, but had also checked the forecast and knew the NNE swell would bring different conditions – to paraphrase Sue M in the change rooms, that’s the ocean for you, if you don’t like it stay in the pool. For many of us CTB is our pool of choice and I for one was more than happy to make my way through the swell and chop.
Fortunately for me I took this shot of the 7am swimmers coming back from Shelley.
I was so late I didn’t have to wait for long for the doublers and made my way to Shelley and back with them.
On the way back Anne, the doublers’ management rep stopped to check on 2 people who had had a head on. You may ask yourself, with so much space how can this happen? But happen it does, even if you are looking out for other swimmers. Not reasonable to expect anyone to look up at every stroke and I for one know how easy it is to get lost in the rhythm of swimming and just forget. What’s the answer? I don’t know but I think if it happens to you, make sure you and the other person are OK and take any rough words with a grain of salt because a knock to the head can stun one a bit. Easier said than done.
Being a slow swimmer I was focused on keeping up with the doublers as best I could. I did see an eagle ray on the sand close the Shelley but didn’t have the heart to disturb it. I heard reports of cow nose rays and a huuuuuuuge wobbegong but for me they are the stuff of legends today.
Fortunately Edwina kindly sent some of her photos for your viewing pleasure

What am I listening to?
While writing this blog I have been listening to kookaburras, my neighbours and the robot vacuum cleaner. But musically, here is a tribute to all of us bold and beautiful mermaids who are sure we have missed our calling. There is a place in Florida called the Weeki Wachee Springs
That place has Real Live Mermaids!!!!!!! Dream job, right? This is a musical tribute to them – think of this the next time you blow watery kisses to the turtles and the fishes
