Hi Folks,
“Whatever anyone one else thinks of me is none of my business”
J.R.R. Tolkein was born on this day in 1892. He was said to write in shorthand and then smudge it (a lot).
Mel Gibson was also born on this day in 1956.
Even though there was a mountain of seaweed on the shoreline conditions were almost ideal for swimming. Tide was high, little to no swell and blue blue skies! Water temp was almost perfect as well.
There were over 30 newbies for today’s swim (must be something to do with New Years resolutions) and it appeared that most people had recovered from there New Years Eve celebrations.
It was great to see that friends and family who had travelled from all parts of the globe to visit regular B&B swimmers were having their first experience of this magical place. As one person said, why go on vacation when you live in the most beautiful place in the world.
Great to see lots of young faces!
Plenty of seaweed but only on the shoreline
You had to pick your spot to enter the water
Some brave souls went right through the thick of it
Some artwork was on display!
Nothing better than the warm sun on your back!
Ready, set….goooo!
Jonathon and Saphire completed their 6km swim to earn their badge today!
The boys look very happy post swim….must be excited about the upcoming coffee
Shenanigans time!
Hope you’re all gearing up for an epic 2015, it’s going to go so fast! Enjoy every moment.
Hugs and more hugs!
Declan

Lovely early blog Declan!
I have a little surf ski and the seam along one side has split. Can anyone advise me how/where to get it fixed? It might be quite easy to do it myself if an expert can advise me the best way. I don’t want to muck it up and make it harder to do it properly.

I think the Pacific Challenge did not update for me today. Is it yet to happen?

Excellent blog Declan. Huge congratulations to all those who did the 6 km swim – about a dozen people in total including first timer Charlie – great effort.

Lovely photos Declan. I love those shots from Shelly facing Manly Beach. Saw a dusky, yellowfish being chased by a kingfish and squid today!
Charlie was so excited to have achieved her first 6km swim. Well done all. Great conditions for it.

Checked with Management. Turns out Little Sarah has decreed that no further km’s are to be added for anyone until her return in February.
A reasonable request.
