Wednesday 3 July 2019 Meaning

03/07/20196

Our thoughts are with the swimmer who had contact with a grey nurse shark yesterday and wish him swift and complete recovery. Today lots of swimmers came because the swim is dear to each one of them in its own way and has a lot of meaning for them; it certainly is of great importance to me. For a brief moment, the media will show interest. I was listening to ABC radio on my way to my physio(also an ocean swimmer) at a time I do not usually listen to it and heard our beloved John Kelly saying all the right things. Channel 7 was there today and Ken was in the make-up chair (or at least having a shower after his early swim) for some thoughtful comments. The biggest concern for most swimmers today was the size of the 7 am set. As Usual it was massive. Big respect to the LifeSavers, out on a jetski having a look-see for the surfers and swimmers who were in today. Each person decides for themselves and approaches the swim in their own way – by wardrobe:

By thinking about the signs, considering that the sun had come up again and deciding to have a swim

Considering the numbers

Walking in by the closed beach signs

Anne has a new camera and housing. I cant wait to see her photos

Beyond the signs you can see the swimmers

The cold was the worst thing for this early swimmer

Early swimmer entry

Swim went wel

What about the badges?

early swimmers found it great

Lifesavers going in with the jetski to look after everyone

Hard to get a shower scene today

I was not the only media there today. Channel 7

very late notice I know but tomorrow morning Brendan will be back at Manly looking for swimmers for an ad that will be made over the weekend 12, 13, 14 July.
He is the one who has taken a quick audition several times over the last 2 to 3 yrs which have resulted in a few of our swimmers benefiting from a bit of casual modelling work.
He will be at Manly around 6:30 auditioning a few runners near the surf club and should be around for interested swimmers before and after their 7 am swim.
