The wave action is fair dinkum stunning today 🙂

Danny earnt this tee shirt ten days ago
Below: Alan (left) paddled a support canoe in Bondi swim, while competitor Huw (right) teamed with two others. Conditions were so perfect that they knocked an hour off last year’s time. As the shirt suggests, they ran into a couple of whales just off the Heads. “Two of them,” says Huw. “I could hear them squeaking under the water.”

2. POPPY GOT A BRAND-NEW GRAVE
Charles “Legend” Rochester III (better known as Poppy) has a new grave, with date of death to be inscribed. He has famously run every single City to Surf Race since it started 45 years ago. At 82, Poppy still plays a mean game of tennis every week; and can be met on his spritely early-morn beach walks. His mates are running a sweep for final tombstone date. Legend!

4. WINTER BADGES
It’s nearly that time again. Winter is coming … and so are the winter
badges. The winter swimming season runs from 1 June to 31 August, and to
qualify for your winter badge, you must:
• Swim at least 20 times during this period
• Swim in at least 7 different weeks
• Log your swims
To qualify for the WWW Badge (Winter Without Wetsuit) you must complete all
of the above without wearing a wetsuit or any other form of bodily thermal
enhancement (don’t forget to check the “without wetsuit” button on the log
in screen). Why not give it a try? Any questions – email Ian:

Love the blog and glad to make the cut, even if I’m now a Lisa!! Keep blogging, Roger, we love you!!
What an adventure this morning…. we’ve all got a bit complacent with super-calm waters for so long, so a few big sets going out and coming in were a shock to the system. I managed to catch AND be dumped by a big one:-/ Amazingly, Kerry found my fin which had been ripped off out the back but which managed to surf in behind me! xx
