Beautiful morning today friends. Over 130 swimmers including 16 newbies enjoyed the 21.5 degree water… and the visibility, oh the visibility! When you got in at Manly Beach you could see all the way through the water to Shelly Beach!

Bill and his boys who school in the UK enjoyed the swim. What a great father and son activity!

Public service anouncement from George ‘the Ghost Swimmer’ this morning. Please everyone swim in the same direction to avoid any more collisions. Talking about the Ghost, he is a very handy swimmer, often up the front for the first 150m, then he disappears, then he re-appears around the rocks. Anyhow here he is this morning after being hit by a breaststoker who was directionally confused…

Lots of people claiming victories on the swim this morning. Who do you secretly race against on the way back… be honest… who are you trying to knock off? Rob got Sophie for the first time this morning…

It was a hot field of A-teamers this morning with Scotty, Brad, Irishman Alex, the Spaniard and the fat Vicar all churning up the waters. These guys got confused over who won…

But there could only be one champ… cough, cough…

I think I need to photoshop that last picture. Very unflattering. Must be the angle. OK, however you enjoy your morning swim, whether it be racing, relaxing or doing recon on the fishies… have a great day! And sorry to the ladies for no Sterling shots this morning. He did the 6:30am swim. I’ll make up for it next week…

Great blog Tim
Great capture of the day’s festivities.
I was very concerned about the lack of the Sterlo update but you came through right at the end. 🙂

Red letter day for me – excellent swim but also I saw and spoke to A Team swimmer Scotty before the swim and THEN I saw Brendan Maher actually leaving the water and heading for the sand (although it may have been like Steve perks just to turn around and do another lap. Such excellent visibility and so many fish

Tim
you have just whipped me in Words with Friends by the biggest margin ever.
It’s only fitting I be very catty and point out your incorrect spelling of METRES in the line of ‘Visibility for 700 meters!’

It was an absolutely magical swim this morning. I’m sorry if I was swimming in different directions but I kept getting distracted by sightings of beautiful fish, rays and finally the turtle!! He was gorgeous and was so lucky to catch him swimming to the surface with sun rays on his back! I’m blogging tomorrow so will be posting photos. I caught 2 eagle rays swimming together too! Back to aquarium conditions. You must swim tomorrow folks!

Some of us that can’t swim fast and will never finish near the front got their own moment of glory today with that beautiful turtle, the added commentary and discussion about its nationality and the growing scepticism about it being just a rock – before it majestically popped up for a breather was as good as any coffee on the benches. Looking forward to the photos tomorrow Lainey.

I’m sure that speaking to Scotty was worth illuminating the calendar. Not so sure about the sight me getting out of the water, although I know you meant it in the context that I’ve been doing a bit of swimming lately, not that the sight was reminiscent of Hugh Jackman or Daniel Craig 🙂
Unfortunately work is getting in the way of doing additional laps, so I’ll hand over to the young gun Jackson from next week

yeh I was a bit confused by E.x comment – is she saying that spotting you, Brendan, is like seeing a movie star and she was overwhelmed OR did the sight of you put her off swimming?

Wasn’t moi (Elizabeth X) but the original Elizabeth. I neither spoke to Scrappy Scotty nor saw the Submarine. However I enjoyed my best swim yet. It was just so fantastic today – flat conditions, incredibly good visibility and an abundance of fish of all shapes and sizes, sharks, rays and the turtle.

128 km !!!! Thats exceptional. Well done Brendan. Its like the 4 minute mile – 100km per month was considered unachievable until Sam did it late last year then it was supassed by LSA and now smashed by Brendan. What an impressive achievement and an auspicious start for a bigger and better year for the B&B

Thanks Ros, Elaine and Elizabeths! It’s a fair bit easier to rack up the kms in summer with the Bolderdashes, 6km and 10km swims, and the time to have a nana nap every day on holidays!

Bill, also very glad to see your good-looking sons with you in Manly!
