This morning as the sun swung round the dark side and piqued the horizon into action, we looked out to a sea of glass. Always a good omen on a wintery morning.
With waves in the negligible zone and an inconsistent south swell pushing the ripples at somewhere between a 7 and 9 second period, we knew we were in for a swimming treat. What we hadn’t counted on was the degree drop overnight and the milky fine residue from the last swell still settling and keeping visibility to about 2 metres. I had to throw in the obligatory shot of the night watchman’s beach house as it is the first thing we see each morning as we early look past for an inkling of the conditions
A rare Manly millpond.
A quiet gathering this morning, steeling against the 17 degree shockwaves with mid rising tide and no waves made for a calm walk almost to the point.
There was more of a general drift off toward New Zealand this morning as most set sail with their own “lets go”.
As was expected, the dark side of the bay was a tad colder and didn’t embolden the usual stayers.
Another great swim.
And to cap it off, it was Laura’s birthday. Hard not to smile on a day like this.
Have a great week everyone.
Cheers
Brian
