BOLD & BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING DUE TO THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAYING INSIDE AS MUCH AS IS POSSIBLE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
From today beaches along the Manly bay are all closed, including Shelly with no lifeguards for those that chose to run the guantlet. We encourage swimmers to act responsibly and within the Government guidelines and swim within your limits should you decide to venture out.
We are so lucky to have a marine reserve to swim in and with that we get to some amazing sealife. I know Elaine has done something similar, but here are some of my favourites seen in Cabbage Tree Bay.
My favourite is the turtle which can often be seen in the grassy area near the Bower. I’ve been lucky enough to see the turtle a few times now and its always such excitement when we spot it.
The dusky whaler is another of my favourites along with a Port Jackson.
We often get to see the beautiful wobbygongs – some of the wobbygongs found in the bay are quite large and they are just so graceful minding their own business as they go about their day.
The cuttlefish are another favourite – it is such a joy to watch them doing their mating dance as usually you see a couple together at a time.
Then there are the rays – this week there have been plenty of fiddler rays but I’ve also seen Eagle Rays, cownose rays near Queenscliff.
So what have you seen in the bay?
Remember keep safe and play by the rules. Hope to be back swimming with you all again soon.
Management notices:
There is still a very limited supply of wine.
They’re a white and a red named ‘The Bold‘ and ‘The Beautiful‘ dedicated to “us” – all the swimmers who take to the ocean for the daily Bold & Beautiful swim from Manly to Shelly Beach and back.
The wines are made by James Becker, out of his vineyards in the Hunter Valley. David Webster has said it’s been a wonderful journey planning the grape varieties, the style of wines and helping James through the process of making, bottling and labelling the wines. Each six pack contains 3 bottles of the red (Shiraz Viognier) and 3 bottles of the white (Chardonnay).
