Tuesday 1 October: Rays, rays and more rays and Bondy prepares for 5000km

October 1, 20197

Today I’m filling in for Murray and the Babewatch Crew who have their first group swim of the season on Sunday from 9am – after the morning B&B swim of course.

This morning when I arrived to prepare for my 7am swim the talk was all about the hundreds of rays swimming in formation between the yellow shed and the steps at Fairy Bower.

I believe they are Cow Nose Rays and make a regular appearance at Cabbage Tree Bay around this time.  Last summer I remember seeing them on a longer swim to Queenscliff, they are quite a site to behold and these swimmers told Ian after their early swim.

The other talk of the morning was about our “temp” buy Bondy.  John (on the right) will be the first B&Ber to clock up 5,000 km.  Putting that in perspective that is equivalent of swimming for Sydney to Melbourne and back almost three times, from Sydney to Noosa and back two and half times or from Sydney to Perth and then half way back to Sydney.  What an awesome effort.  If you are planning on swimming on Friday please make sure you hang around to give him an arch and celebrate this achievement.

Swimming with Bold and Beautiful is not just about swimming, its also about the friendships we make along the journey.

Camera malfunction but these guys below asked if they could have their photo taken for the blog – you made it team!

Annie, Gemma and Penny were excited to get going this morning.

The happy A-team leave their run to Shelly a little later so they don’t have so long for us slow peeps to arrive.

A swim with Drinky at 6.30 wasn’t quite long enough for these two who snuck in another swim at 7 before work.

Thanks Roz for the following photos of the Rays this morning!!!!  Roz is having a cake stall on Saturday in response to the ever worsening crisis our farmers are in.

She’d really appreciate donations of goodies to sell and we will also be accepting cash donations. Proceeds will be donated to  “Drought Angels”. So get baking and bring in some goodies to sell and/or money to buy some yummy treats for the long weekend!

You can drop off after 6.15am on Saturday.

He will cover a brief outline of the mechanics of the shoulder as well as common causes of injury and a few stretches and exercises that may help prevent shoulder injuries.

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. Much Kudos to JB but I think Fifi has sneakily slipped in ahead of him in the last few months.
