Tues 7th: A day like none before

02/07/201911

A promising sunrise as I was walking along the beachfront towards the clubhouse at 6.15 this morning … before the murmurs started

Gathered around the B&B tree.   6.33 goes by and I haven’t seen any swimmers walk down the ramp yet. Talk was of a 5.30 swimmer who had been attacked in the water

The man in red was telling us not to enter the water.

Shark alarm was sounded for a few minutes, drone up to see if it could see anything in the water, police had rocked up to investigate.

They stood guard at the top of the ramp – and news crews were interviewing swimmers.

Five logged swimmers today – a few people walked round to the pool at Bower to get wet and do a few laps, but most were content with a coffee and a chat.

Apologies for the lack of photos from this morning – tech issues!

Wishing all the best and a quick recovery to our friend from this morning. Thanks to those who were swimming with him and looked after him, and I hope they will be back in the water with us before too long.

From Murray

Very exciting report so I did not even miss the photos. How does this impact the winter badge tally

Best wishes to Peter for a speedy recovery.
Surely fighting off a shark should have earned him Swimmer of the Day?

because it doesn’t happen often, we probably don’t need a ‘shark special’ swim to tick. Today, a swim from The Corso to Nth Steyne could have been a ‘shark special’ for a shark south of Manly Point.

I’ve always referred to the 5:30 swim as the Darkie Sharkie. :-/

So team BnB (Roger), any real info about what happened? What type of fish/shark? Any details?
Thinking of everyone and hope Peter is ok.
