To swim or not to swim….

February 6, 20219

I had planned a dry blog for today as I’ve hurt my back. It’s a nor easter again, so quite bumpy in the bay and blue bottles absolutely everywhere! I got tempted however to hop into the pool at Fairy Bower and do some hydrotherapy , but I quickly found myself scooping the blueys out on to the rocks, so left the pool promptly.
My view out ot the bay from the pool :

Earlier I had seen some swimmers wisely choose the pool instead of the bay, at that stage no blueys were in the pool , but the tide was coming in afterwards.

I saw Pauline and Ian, these are from Pauline’s morning at Manly, she starts a lot earlier than I do. Lovely sunrise.

Ian surveying the bay, he managed to make it to halfway before getting stung.

She was also around for the finishers of the Cole Classic Sun Run

Some close ups of bluey’s on the beach at Shelly

Crabs taking the bluey’s away to eat?

I bumped into Jon and Suzy, Jon also got stung by a dip at halfway after swimming harbour side. Suzy had a dip in the pool.

Just after leaving the pool, I got footage on video of a cormorant with a massive fish in his mouth. He hopped into the rocks and promptly took it in one gulp.

B&B Swimmer of the Month
B&B’s Random Swimmer of the Month for January, winning a $100 voucher for a pair of female Budgy Smugglers is: Shelley Keeble. All you have to do to become Swimmer of the Month is to swim at least once in the month and log your swim. The more times you swim, the more chances you have. Thanks to Budgy Smuggler for their generous support.
Yay for Shelley, keep logging swims till end of February to get a summer badge. Temperature today was 22.3 and when I started the blog, 33 people had ticked their swims.
Have a good weekend everyone, Edwina.

Yay Shelley, swimmer of the month!
Some bluey infestation, Ed. I don’t remember seeing one like this ever. All your photos are great today. Glad I’m not on first aid duty for the Cole Classic tomorrow, that’s if they don’t cancel it

Fantastic pics Ed (and Pauline), and I am so glad you’re not kayaking from Palm Beach today with your back…ouch.

It looks like a good wind change from n-e early tomorrow to west then sth west between 6 and 9 am. – great for swimming in the Bay and for sending blueys away. There may be a few slow ones moving out but nothing like today’s masses which were at Palm Beach too.
    Great pictures; a bit scarey
