Thursday 6 July: Another winters day in paradise

06/07/20177

Next week marks week seven in the winter badge challenge.  The challenge, for those that don’t know is to swim and log 20 swims over 7 different weeks during June, July and August.  If you are really game, you can do it without a wetsuit for an extra www badge. Make sure you log them on i-Log to count.  To celebrate our winter swimming some of the regular ladies got to play models for the Manly Daily – so look out for a story in the next few days. Thanks Edwina for this photo.

This morning was simply stupendous with the most amazing sunrise for us to swim/walk to the point.

There were plenty of happy friendly faces.

Sean is out of his sling after a shoulder reconstruction.  It will be about a year before he is back swimming freestyle with us, but today he walked from Curl Curl to say hello to us all.

Marco is making a secret bid to become the honorary bloke with the Women of the Wall.

What better way to celebrate your birthday than with a swim with friends.  Happy birthday Enid (centre) – hope you enjoyed your morning swim.

Alana and Jo.

More of that spectacular sunrise.

Georgina and Robin.

Anne getting ready to head out.

When these guys are around there’s always going to be some laughs.

Patrick bought an international guest for a swim this morning.

This was Sheena’s last swim for a while – she is heading to the Northern Hemisphere.  At least today she got to see the cuttlefish near the pool.

Couples goals.

As I said previously it was another spectacular morning with plenty to see – reports of the cuttlefish, port jacksons, duskies, the blue gropher to name just a few.  You really can’t beat starting the morning by swimming with Bold and Beautiful.  Also make sure you book in for B&B monthly dinner next Tuesday at Bluewater to hear from Fireman Ken.

Till next time.

Total swimmers: 132

B&B Monthly Dinner at Bluewater Cafe

The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 11th July at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be B&B swimmer, Chief Superintendent Kenneth Murphy (aka Smurf), who was recently awarded an Australian Fire Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Ken will give a talk titled “Business as Usual” about the dangers faced by fireman, and highlighted by fire at the Forbes Vast Solar Plant, involving 120,000 litres of liquid sodium.

The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

There isn’t a group password, each swimmer has an individual login. Ian can help you get on the right track. I think there is a place on the login where you can change your password
