Thursday 5 January – another holiday turnout

January 5, 20178

Even though it was rainy conditions this morning, there was still a great turnout of swimmers for this mornings jaunt from Manly Beach to Shelly Beach and return.

Yesterday there were 80 people leaving at 6.30 for their morning swim and this morning another large contingent turned up again.

Above some of the 6.30 swimmers make their way down the ramp.

We’ve also had lot of new swimmers join us over the summer holidays and today was no exception with another 22 new swimmers joining the squad.

There was a welcoming party to great newbies and tell them the rules of what to and what not to do.

Another newbie who had her first swim today.

And of course some of the regulars were also there.

All in all it was a beautiful morning in the water, even though a couple of showers came through at the end of the swim.

If you are swimming on Saturday make sure you bring some spare change to buy from our cake stall with all proceeds going towards Dr Ray’s Women’s Hospital in Nepal. Roz and Lainey would also welcome anyone who can donate some cakes or slices to be sold. Details are below.

Hope to see you all out in the water again this week.

CAKE STALL to raise funds for Women’s Hospital in Nepal
After talking to Dr Ray Hodgson who swims with us and operates A4WH which helps women in Nepal who have experienced prolapse, Roz and I thought it would be lovely to hold a cake stall and try and raise funds for the hospital they are trying to build in remote Nepal. It will be this Saturday 7th Jan after the swim between 7.30 and 9.30am. Please bake a cake, slice, frittata or bring along something we can sell! Also all swimmers please bring along some dollars to support this amazing cause. Thank you so much in advance. Thanks for a lovely blog and mentioning the cake stall. Thank you also to those people who have offered to bring something on Saturday. We’ll be at the Surf Club from 6.30 am so if anyone else can donate something would be appreciated. So hope the clarity of the water doesn’t disappear after today’s rain.

Big effort capturing early swimmers. Lovely swim today. Little bit of gentle rain but some brown-red algae. I suppose that comes with the warmer water

FrannyFish – amazing pics, love the drops on them. You should pick up a blogging vacancy – all you’d have to do would be to post your pics!
