Four years ago when I wasn’t in a great space my mate Woody suggested I swim at the B&B . I thought ‘how can a swim make any difference?’ but went along anyway. It didn’t take me long to realise its not about the swim, is about the people. This is a time of year where our nearest and dearest are usually closest and its a great time to be grateful for the wonderful people in our lives. And be grateful for the wonderful people we get to say gooday to- or who become great friends – just because of this swim. It’s no surprise that the Institute of Positive Psychology finds that the biggest single factor in happiness is the quality of our relationships. I think the idea is catching on, people are joining us from all over the world…some come from Alaska…the land of Polar Bears and Sarah Palin…
While others come from Chile….with delusions they are the number one football team…
While still others take the trek from Manly….
And there’s a great group of people take the trouble to arrange social events, people like Brendan Maher who has his ‘Nowhere near boxing day BBQ’ every year, here’s a few of the folks from yesterday’s at Brendan’s…
Stats
Conditions were challenging. More than half the group left from 1/2 way
Water temp was 20.3 degrees this morning.
We had 28 newbies and a total of about 187 swimmer

A lady lost an engagement ring this morning at the base of the Triathletes tree.
If anyone picked it up or knows anything, please come to the Sign up table and let me know.

Great blog Peter. I was a trainee welcomer for the newbies today. It’s great to see their excitement and for me to share some of the inclusiveness that we are so fortunate to experience each and every day.

Thanks Peter, it was a fun swim, rated tops on the benji scale (I guess it’s a Chilean thing). Great to see Rainer & Lesley in contemplative mood – so rare!

Yep I agree with you, the people make the swim a great experience. We all find ourselves in a bad place at some stage in life, onwards and upwards 👍. I also loved that photo of Rainer and Lesley 😂

Lovely blog and so true, Pete. Friendship and the group is the glue keeping us together and adding to the joy of the swim itself. Thank you.
