So it appears that while the cat’s away the mice will play, even at Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad. Sean, Ian and John we will all keenly be waiting to see how you can outdo Rainer and Jill with there perfectly executed “Let’s Go” at Shelly Beach this morning.
Even on the newbe stakes the Jill did it again with 10 new swimmers joining us this morning for a perfect morning. Carol on the left below from California came down for a swim yesterday, found out about the squad and swan with us before heading back home to the States. She says she can’t wait to get back.
This was the only bluebottle I saw today – Mike picked it up off the beach. Monica said she got hit by something but was alright.
The ever reliable John Bond was there to report that the temperature today was 22.2 – still just splendid and with all the fish life around at the moment it is a perfect time to get out of bed and come join us.
Mike took some great photos of our swimmers at North Steyne on the weekend and is regularly seen with his camera. What is he plotting with Henrietta and Ann.
The conditions today were just magnificent, very little swell, beautiful sunshine, warm water, the duskies, the yellowtail, the old wives and even the turtle seen near half way.
Here’s some of the squad leaving this morning.
And then here we all are again at Shelly
Another getting ready for the “Lets Go” scoring a 10.0 – we hear the Rainer is keen to teach Sean exactly how to do a star jump off his shoulders!!!
And then it’s back to Manly we go.
Oh yeah and here’s a couple of some fish – practicing my underwater stills – Lainey Loo we need you back!!!
And here’s the crew returning to Manly. You always have a fabulous day after starting it with these guys.
There’s always a lineup to rinse in the outside shower.
Is anyone missing their badge covered jacket – Pirate found one on the ground late yesterday arvo so contact Alex if you would like it back.
Stats:
Temperature: 22.2
New swimmers: 10
Total swimmers (registered when published): 124
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

I found something blue too… It’s amazing the surprises you can have on a swim. I found a submerged chair as blue as a blue groper, in the sun filled clear, waters of Fairy Bower, resting artistically on the rocks. It lwas a beautiful sight and worthy of any art gallery. So I hauled it up and placed next to its mate outside the shop near the stairs, now looking rather drab after its underwater adventure.
