If you are green or Irish then today is your special day and those who swum today got to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with Patrick. St Patrick chased snakes out of Ireland, but funnily enough he as not Irish, but rather from Scotland or Roman England. Either way I think St Patrick’s Day is a good enough reason to down a Guinness and eat some corned beef, cabbage or potatoes.
There wasn’t a snake, a leprechaun or pot of gold today, but there was the treasure of swimming to a beautiful sunrise, with nice clear and warm water and were plenty of fish out playing.
It is getting harder and harder to get out from under the warm doona at the moment, but 93 of us made the trek this morning. Anne was on the welcoming team while I’m sure Henrietta was busy telling Mike how big the dusky whaler was she saw yesterday.
The morning was spectacular with the storm clouds out to sea meaning a fantastic sunrise for us all.
Here’s Shelley, Lesbubbs and Anne having some underwater fun.
Did you hear about the Irishman and the South Afrikken that went swimming, Derek, mate you’re headed the wrong way and Patrick, I’m not sure what stroke they call that.
At Shelley Beach it was Patrick who got to do the Let’s Go with Anne but here he is with Lani. Patrick is a regular B&B’er and one of the friendly doctors that swims with the group – in case you didn’t realise he’s also Irish, but we won’t hold that against him.
But before we knew it, it was time to go again.
Meanwhile after the swim Elizabeth had made a treat to celebrate St Patrick’s Day – hope it comes off Ed.
May the luck of the Irish be with you all today and may you find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, one it stops raining of course.

I can’t take credit for the underwater shots – Lani is the expert with those – my underwater shot of fish was out of focus and didn’t have any fish – like my swimming lots more practice needed

What a fabulous swim this morning…clear, warm, topaz blue water and lots of fish. Thanks for the underwater posing tips Lesbubs, you’ve got that move nailed, with perfect placement of extremities and a smile worthy of Esther Williams

Lovely, funny blog Dea! It was a beautiful swim. I don’t understand Lesbubbs, you smile underwater but pull crazy faces above the water! I love that photo of Derek upside down!

Happy St Paticks Day …
Didn’t make the swim but some Irish friends insisted, insisted, that I drop everything and meet them at North Sydney’s Rag & Famish pub for pints of Guinness
Not one to ever let a friend down I complied and accidentally swallowed 5 pints of Guinness
