Thursday 12th December Big & little love

12/12/20196

Morning radio at 530 today played Love Song dedications, so people call in, talk about the big love in their lives and request a song. I enjoyed classics like Whitney Houston’s I will always love you and Christina Perri For a Thousand Years. And lots of talk about big loves as the best thing in life. And then I arrived at the swim and noticed something fascinating. People sharing hugs, asking things with a genuine interest in the answer, and just hanging out. Lots of little love. You see it happening every morning, conversations by the coffee shop, chat at the benches, and catch-ups at Bluewater. Now I wasn’t thinking about big love songs, I was thinking more like What a Wonderful World…

The colours of the rainbow

So pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces

Of the people going by

I see friends shaking hands

Saying how do you do

They’re really saying

I love you

Some people get lucky with a big love, but we all get lucky with little loves, and there’s so much of it. People showing little signs of love although nobody would ever admit it. And I’m sure as you’re reading this and you think about your friends in the swim, maybe you didn’t instantly think about love, you just think about how great it is to come down each morning. And the reason you come isn’t just for the swim, it’s for the love, the companionship, little moments that make life so much more wonderful. That’s what makes our swim so special, little moments of love & friendship and companionship. This morning we had big love and little love at the swim. Big love like Rosemary & her son Andrew who was a newbie along with his partner Abby. Then the couple below who are getting married on New Year’s Eve. And you’ll notice lots of little love too. Although some of us just call it going for a swim.

for a swim.

Wishing you all lots of big and little love.

Pete Anthony

Great blog Pete. It’s unfortunate we only have one word for love. The Greeks have at least 6 words. Love comes in many forms in fact we only need two things in life, to love and be loved.
