So why does swimming in 17 degree water in winter make you feel great? Well there’s lots of ways to answer that question, one way is to think about strengths. What are your strengths? Not necessarily just things you do well – because some things you may do well you may not enjoy. Yes you have to be great at it. Strengths are things you love to do, you look forward to doing, and you always feel better after. Only you know your strengths because only you know how you feel. Ideally when you play to your strengths you are making a contribution on the way. The alternative is to focus on your weaknesses – most of us are experts in ours – and spend our lives doing what we don’t enjoy so we can be ’rounded’. I’d rather find what I love and build my life around it. Just like a lot of this morning’s swimmers do. Lots of strengths here.
Stay strong,
Pete Anthony
