This is why we do life in community…

30/10/201414

Last Friday as my wife Victoria and I left the house to go for the swim she had a stroke. Pretty scary stuff. Within 15 minutes she was in an ambulance on the way to RNSH where after the scan they immediately operated. Honestly it was the scariest morning of my life. Fortunately they were able to remove an 8mm blood clot from her brain and full functionality has returned. The baby inside is also doing great. Here is Victoria with our little girl Hope with a card the kids made at church on Sunday.

The love and support from our swim buddies has been overwhelming… countless people from the B&B praying, calling, texting, visiting, giving us meals and offering to look after Hope. You guys really are a special bunch. Thank you, and know that we really are doing well now.  Victoria will make a full recovery and I will be back to beating Scotty and Spaniard tomorrow morning…

OK, speaking of the swim here is a bunch of shots sent to me from this mornings swim…

See you tomorrow morning for the start of the Spring Triple Crown. It runs over tomorrow (Halloween), this Sunday and concludes on Tuesday with the Melbourne Cup. Scrappy Scotty is the defending champion and will be out to make it two in a row. Spaniard, Brad, Alex and myself will be out to knock him off. Sterling will make up the numbers.

Much love on a big week, the Bishop!

Glad to hear she is on the mend. And it’s so nice to hear how supportive everyone has been in what sounds like a terrifying situation for all!
I haven’t swam with the group in a long time due to a little person coming into my life, but I really miss everyone and the community spirit. I’ll be back soon hopefully. Just building up the fitness in the pool first!

Thanks Tim (and Peter A for helping out so admirably) – ‘community’ is what it’s all about. I know we’re all so relieved all is well with Victoria and really appreciate your sharing. We never know…….
Best wishes to all those experiencing personal emergencies at this time AND it was a Great Swim (oh, apart from when I realised I didn’t have my goggles with me, when I swam into a dead mutton bird and when a wave nearly wiped me out!!):-))

Great team work Bishop and Peter!
We’re all relieved to hear Victoria is recovering well. Great little community indeed.
Speaking of community. LSA is keen for another slow/social Bolderdash tomorrow. Leaving the club at 5:50 to join 7am Shelly swim after.
Any takers? Wind forecast looks perfect. I’m in tentatively. So is Slowest Shaun.

Pete – how did you manage to get a photo of Elliot not smiling? I almost didn’t recognise him but for his folks

What a wonderful story of Victoria’s crisis and recovery – modern medicine is phenomenal and indeed is the power of prayer and loving people all around.
On frivolous note – I left my pink silicone B&B cap on the beach wall – it must have been the one I saw next to another ?orangyish cap and goggles. I thought mine was safely in it’s bag – not so… did anyone hand it in… I’ll the check lost and found bag on Saturday anyway.

Yeh, tentative guys, we’re all in, meet 5.45, in the water at 5.50 to give us a chance of bombing a Shelly blog.
Talking of which, Zabber Queen, why not join us and do a Bolder-Shelly blog?
Bernhard’s another ‘tentative, tentative in’ guy…. what are the world’s guys coming to? No commitment!

Hi Jenny, thx for reminding me. After brekkie I picked up two left B&B caps, one silicone. Oh but these were on the table – probably moved there. I’ll give them to Ian tomorrow (or the next day if I get lost on my bolder-shelly swim tomorrow!)
I also saw a neat pile of a white Tshirt, pink cap and regular black cap, but left them in case someone was out swimming. Go, go if they are yours. Some grey pants too…
Anything of value – put a name in it and tel no with B&B!
