This morning’s swim had a slightly different feel compared to the last few days. The conditions were calm, the sun was warm and the community happy to see Lake Manly back.

I ended up drifting a little further out than I usually do. It gave me just enough space to slow down and take things in rather than just move through the water.
Most people focus on the classic Cabbage Tree Bay highlights – the rocks, the fish, the bright flashes of sea life – but today something else caught my attention. I found myself watching the sand beneath me. The soft ripples, the way the sunlight filtered through the water and settled across it. Simple, but honestly quite beautiful.

I actually forgot that I was swimming because I got lost in the beauty of the sand and the light. It felt like a small meditative moment right in the middle of the bay.
The water temperature was officially 18.9 degrees, although it definitely didn’t feel like it, more like 20. It was one of those perfect days where everything just worked.
It was lovely seeing my tribe going in, and then later, seeing them all coming out again. And everywhere I looked, people were just floating, bobbing around, soaking up the sunshine, completely content.

As I finished up, I realised that today’s swim really lived up to the name. The bold is always there – the routine, the discipline, the distance – but today it was the beautiful that truly captivated me.
